Salute to President Zelenskyy

Ukraine president Zelenskyy was comedy actor is a heroic, courageous leader. He had 4 different video speeches that all the members at British Parliament, at U.S. Congress House, at Canadian Parliament and German Parliament. All the members had standing ovation and applaud. My tears rolling down my face when I heard president Zelenskyy's video address at U.S. Congress House. I know those speeches can't be heard in China or Russia or North Korea or Iran. So, this is the transcript of Mr. Zelenskyy's address at US Congress. In order to pass Chinese FriendFinder approval of this blog, I use "x" "xx" to replace certain words. Hope you will understand.

Glory to heroes. Thank you very much. Madam Speaker, members of the Congress, ladies and gentlemen, Americans, friends, I am proud to greet you from Ukraine, from our capital city of Kyiv, a city that is under missxle and airstrxkes from Russian troops every day. But it doesn’t give up, and we have not even thought about it for a second, just like many other cities and communities in our beautiful country, which found themselves in the worst wxx since World Wxx II.

I have the honor to greet you on behalf of the Ukrainian people, brave and freedom-loving people who, for eight years, have been resisting the Russian aggression, those who give their best sons and daughters to stop this full-scale Russian invasxon. Right now, the destiny of our country is being decided, the destiny of our people, whether Ukrainians will be free, whether they will be able to preserve their democracy.

Russia has attacked not just us, not just our land, not just our cities. It went on a brutal offensive against our values, basic human values. It threw tanks and planes against our freedom, against our right to live freely in our own country, choosing our own future, against our desire for happiness, against our national dreams, just like the same dreams you have, you Americans.

Just like anyone else in the United States, I remember your national memorial in Rushmore, the faces of your prominent presidents, those who laid the foundation of the United States of America as it is today: democracy, independence, freedom, and care for everyone, for every person, for everyone who works diligently, who lives honestly, who respects the law. We in Ukraine want the same for our people, all that is normal part of your own life.

Zelensky invoked American traumas to bolster his case

Ladies and gentlemen, friends, Americans, in your great history, you have pages that would allow you to understand Ukrainians, understand us now when we need you, right now. Remember Pearl Harbor, terrible morning of Dec. 7, 1941, when your sky was black from the planes attacking you. Just remember it. Remember September the 11th, a terrible day in 2001 when evil tried to turn your cities, independent territories, in battlefields, when innocent people were attacked, attacked from air, yes. Just like no one else expected it, you could not stop it.

‘I have a dream.’ A freighted request for a no-fly zone.

You know what kind of defense systems we need, S-300 and other similar systems. You know how much depends on the battlefield, on the ability to use aircraft, powerful, strong aviation to protect our people, our freedom, our land, aircraft that can help Ukraine, help Europe. And you know that they exist and you have them, but they are on earth, not in the Ukrainian sky. They do not defend our people. I have a dream. These words are known to each of you today. I can say I have a need. I need to protect our sky. I need your decision, your help, which means exactly the same, the same you feel when you hear the words, ‘I have a dream.’

Ladies and gentlemen, friends, Ukraine is grateful to the United States for its overwhelming support, for everything that your government and your people have done for us, for weapons and ammunition, for training, for finances, for leadership in the free world, which helps us to pressure the aggressor economically.

He bluntly asked for help: ‘I call on you to do more.

I am grateful to President Biden for his personal involvement, for his sincere commitment to the defense of Ukraine and democracy all over the world. I am grateful to you for the resolution which recognizes all those who commit crimes against Ukraine, against the Ukrainian people, as wxx criminals. However, now it is true in the darkest time for our country, for the whole of Europe, I call on you to do more. New packages of sanctions are needed constantly, every week, until the Russian military machine stops. Restrictions are needed for everyone on whom this unjust regime is based.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy gave an impassioned speech to the U. N. Security Council 聯合國安理會 on April 5, urging representatives not to let permanent member Russia continue to go unpunished for what he described as "the most terrible war crimes" since World Wxx II.

His remarks come a day after he visited the city of Bucha, where bodies were found in the streets and in basements after the withdrawal of Russian forces. Zelenskyy described the alleged atrocities there and said the world is likely to see similar horrors in other cities still occupied by Russia — in addition to large-scale consequences like food insecurity and political chaos far beyond Ukraine's borders.

Zelenskyy called on the Security Council to implement internal reforms to hold Russia — and, as he put it, other would-be war criminals — accountable, and he urged it to remove Russia as a member "so it cannot block decisions about ... its own war." If not, he said, it should "dissolve" itself.

Zelenskyy urged the council to act immediately to stop the Russian invasion, and called for a war crimes tribunal — like the Nuremberg trials after World War II — to hold Russia accountable.

He also described the role that Ukraine could play in this process, saying that it has a "moral right" to propose reforms of the world security system since it has helped people from other conflict-ridden countries, such as Afghanistan, in their times of need.

Zelenskyy suggested convening a global conference to discuss how to enforce U.N. goals such as guaranteeing recognition of borders. And he also proposed opening a "preventative" U.N. office in Kyiv that would focus on promoting peace.

"We must do everything in our power to pass onto the next generation an effective U.N. with the ability to respond preventively to security challenges and thus guarantee peace, prevent aggression and force aggressors to peace," he said at one point.

Vasily Nebenzya, Russia's ambassador to the U.N., later repeated Russia's claims without evidence that Ukraine had staged the scenes in Bucha and said that civilians were allowed to move around freely, use their cell phones and leave the town while it was under Russian control. He accused Western countries of "fueling anti-Russian hysteria" by painting Russian soldiers as murderers and , which he called "an incredibly low blow."

Zelenskyy doubts the council's ability to hold Russia accountable

It's difficult for the Security Council — the U.N.'s most powerful body — to hold Russia accountable for its war in Ukraine because it is a permanent council member with veto power. Russia has downplayed its objective in the country and dismissed allegations of war crimes as untrue and has voted against multiple resolutions that would have it withdraw its troops.

Zelenskyy warned that if Russia goes unpunished, countries will be reliant on their own arms for security, rather than international law and institutions.

He reminded his audience that the opening chapter of the U.N. charter aims to maintain peace and then said it has been violated "literally starting with Article 1."

"Where is the security that the Security Council was supposed to guarantee?" Zelenskyy asked, highlighting a common criticism of the U.N.'s ability to make its members fulfill the promises of Article 1 of the U.N Charter to maintain peace. Zelenskyy also highlighted the unlikelihood of the U.N. to take action in light of Russia's permanent seat on the Security Council and its veto power.

"Ladies and gentlemen, are you ready to close the U.N.? Do you think the time for international order is gone?" he asked.

If the answer is no, he said, then action must be taken immediately to restore the U.N. charter and punish Russia.

He pointed to Syria, Somalia, Afghanistan and Yemen and said that if such atrocities had been punished earlier and not allowed to drag on, perhaps there would not be a war in Ukraine now.

So how can the world respond now? Zelenskyy said that anyone in the Russian military who gave or carried out criminal orders should be brought before a tribunal and held accountable.

He also urged the council to remove Russia "as an aggressor and a source of wxx" so that it cannot block responses to its own acts of violence.

"If there is no alternative and no option, then the next option would be: dissolve yourself altogether," Zelenskyy added.

Zelenskyy says Bucha is 'only one example'

Zelenskyy also said that there is not a single crime that Russian forces "will not commit." He compared their actions to those of terrorist groups such as ISIS, with the only difference being that Russia sits on the Security Council.

Describing the scene in Bucha, near Kyiv, he accused Russian troops of killing entire families and trying to burn their bodies, torturing people, shooting them on the streets, throwing people into wells, kxlling them in their homes and using tanks to crush cars with civilians inside "just for their pleasure."

In even more graphic detail, he described them cxtting off limbs, slashing throats, rapxng and kxlling women in front of their children and pulling out peoples' tongues "only because the aggressor did not hear what they wanted to hear from them."

Zelenskyy said that Russia needs Ukraine's wealth and its people, saying it has deported hundreds of thousands of citizens to Russia, abducted children and is aiming to turn Ukraine "into silent slaves." He also alleged that the Russian military is openly looting the cities and villages it has occupied, stealing everything from food supplies to "gold earrings that are pulled out and covered with bloxd."

Zelenskyy said the scenes in Bucha are "unfortunately only one example of what the occupiers have been doing on our land for the past 41 days." NPR has not independently confirmed the reports.

Russia has denied these reports and accused Ukraine of staging the killings in Bucha. Zelenskyy said such denials are part of a classic tactic to say that there are different narratives and that it's impossible to establish which one is the truth.

"But it is 2022 now," he said. "We have conclusive evidence, satellite images, we can conduct full and transparent investigations."

He called for such an investigation, as well as maximum access to journalists, cooperation of international organizations and the involvement of the International Criminal Court, of which neither Russia nor Ukraine is a member.

"Geography may be different or various, but cruelty is the same, crimes are the same, and accountability must be inevitable," he said.

Russian Putin bxmb the civilians, apartment buildings, churches, hospitals, schools, .... It is coward act. Putin thought that he could occupy Ukraine in 4 days, so he gave Russian soldiers 4 days meals and most of the military rations or army rations are expired in 2015. Then there are 64 km (kilo meter = 40 miles) long Russian tanks line-up that under cold weather of Ukraine, without foods, some tanks stuck in mud. Russian soldiers are hungry and cold and tank fuel are used-up. The worst is there are logistics problems that food truck couldn't reach to the 64 kilo meter tanks.

U.S. didn't send soldiers in Ukraine, NATO didn't send soldiers either. However, USA and EU (European Union) provided most advanced military defense wxxpons for Ukrainians to fight for their countries. The most effective one is FIM-92 Stinger (U.S Man-portable surface-to-air missxle) Ukrainian soldiers against Russia's tanks. Of course, Elon Musk provided SpaceX Starlink and "Power Wall" systems and batteries which is portable electricity. Google maps provided GPS so that Ukrainians know where the Russian's tanks location. President Zelenskyy thanked Elon Musk through a video talk and invited Elon Musk to visit Ukraine when the wxx is over.

Ukraine got the most advanced high-tech wxxpons compare with Russia's 19th Century old wxxpons. After Russia out of the S.H.I.F.T. system, Ruble from 70 dropped to 130 to one USD (black market is 160). The inflation will soar to sky high. Putin finally admitted Russia economy will be in a difficult status. The dead Russian soldiers exceed 2,500. Many people predict a "Coup d'état"【法】政變 in Russia.

There are 3 prime ministers came from Poland波蘭, Slovenia斯洛維尼亞共和國, and Czech Republic捷克. They met at boarder of Poland and Ukraine烏克蘭 first, then they made a long, hazardous journey by rail train from Poland to Kyiv in a show of support as the city came under further Russian attack. You may ask why Russian soldiers didn't fire to kxll these 3 European leaders? Because these 3 countries belong to NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization 北大西洋公約組織). If Russian soldiers attack the train that means Russia threaten and challenge NATO member. Then NATO has the Right to fight back.

NATO is an Alliance that consists of 30 independent member countries.
Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States.

Mr. Zelensky sought to place his country’s moment of peril in historical context for members of Congress by recalling two events that are seared in the American consciousness, drawing specific parallels to times the United States was assaulted by air, as Ukraine is now. It is a strategy that he has turned to often in recent weeks as he works to rally support for his cause amid the Russian onslaught.

When Mr. Zelensky spoke before Britain’s House of Commons last week, he invoked Winston Churchill, likening the Russian attacks on Ukraine to England’s “darkest hour” during World Wxx II.

The comparisons are aimed at illustrating the stakes of the conflict for Ukraine, and to persuade policymakers around the globe that they should regard it as among the gravest challenges that the world has faced.

Our country experience the same every day., Right now at this moment, every night for three weeks now, various Ukrainian cities, Odessa and Kharkiv, Chernihiv and Sumy, Zhytomyr and Lviv, Mariupol and Dnipro, Russia has turned the Ukrainian sky into a source of death for thousands of people. Russian troops have already fired nearly 1,000 missiles at Ukraine, countless bombs. They use drones to kill us with precision.

This is a terror that Europe has not seen, has not seen for 80 years, and we are asking for a reply, for an answer to this terror from the whole world. Is this a lot to ask for, to create a no-fly zone over Ukraine to save people? Is this too much to ask, humanitarian no-fly zone, something that Russia would not be able to terrorize our free cities? If this is too much to ask, we offer an alternative.

A key request that Mr. Zelensky has brought up repeatedly is for American support to close the skies over Ukraine. He has also pleaded with NATO allies to impose a no-fly zone — a move the allies have said would essentially begin World Wxx III — but has been rebuffed.

In the speech, he grounded his plea for such measures in the language of the American civil rights movement and a famous speech by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., effectively comparing his struggle to protect his nation to the fight for racial justice in the United States.

Knowing that America would not answer that particular call, Mr. Zelensky instead pivoted, asking for powerful antimissile defense systems, such as the S-300. Ukrainian officials have also requested armed drones and communication equipment, which the United States has not yet provided. Washington has sent other arms to Kyiv, including antiaircraft Stinger missiles and antitank Javelin missiles. The Biden administration earlier this month sent a $350 million package of arms and equipment to Ukraine, and on Wednesday, it announced an additional $800 million tranche.

Mr. Zelensky has previously requested that the United States help facilitate the transfer of Polish MIG fighter planes, but noticeably did not name them on Wednesday, after the Biden administration rejected the request.
