Picking Pleasures


We spend our days doing it, even in the ways we work and the objective we pursue, and some even choose the work they won't do, to picking support pleasures they seek to pick, therefore they seek pleasure even in the work they pick, as a means to provide means to "pick pleasures" in other things.

We seem to be continually structuring and restructuring the pleasures we pick and how we go about picking them.

It's funny, but as people, it's a variety of comments we utter, from what one will do after work, what one will do for the weekend, or what one will do for vacation, or what we will buy, or any variety of commentary which sums up to 'Picking Pleasures'..

But we say we are not 'hedonistic".. when in fact we are.

"Hedonism is a school of thought which argues that pleasure is the only intrinsic good. This is often used as a justification for evaluating actions in terms of how much pleasure and how little pain (i.e. suffering) they produce. In very simple terms, a hedonist strives to maximize this net pleasure (pleasure minus pain)". ( from wiki)

Is the goal in life truly about "Picking Pleasures"... if so, and as so, why do so many deny they are "pleasure seekers" ?

"Epicurus believed that the greatest good was to seek modest pleasures in order to attain a state of tranquility and freedom from fear as well as absence of bodily pain through knowledge of the workings of the world and the limits of our desires."

MODERATION ... AND SELF MANAGEMENT--- may well be the key within understanding, when "picking pleasures'
