the many things which makes up a workday

How many people spend a big part of their day dealing with family issues ?
How many get multiple phone calls from family, be it , whether they are young or they are full grown adults with their own , but continue to call with problems and issues during the work day ?

How much of the work day is spent doing many thing which have no direct connection to the work or the task necessary to perform the work?

Yes, its' normal for people to engage some level of concerns for their over-all life and there are many things that crop up...

But the real elements of this questions is, do many of your personal things take up the larger part of your focus while working?

if the answer is yes, do you think it is fair to the job you are hired to do ?

The funny thing is, when America was a nation that had industrial jobs as the primary form of work. People actually spent more time doing the work than texting, talking on the phone to family members, and dealing with family drama throughout the day.

Today, we can contrast things in relations to the Chinese Industrial Model.. They work not just 8 hrs. but many jobs impost the 8-10+ hrs on factory workers. The pace does not allow them much time to think about their own issue and surely not much time to deal with family issues or personal issue that may involve life after work.

Which is better for the individual human being ?

What of the places that give relaxation time after lunch, or places that give 30 minutes lunch, but you have to work 30 minutes longer in the day, or 1 hours lunch, but you have to work one hour longer.

How many people are strapped under the thumb of micro-managers,and hawkers who wants to watch you every minute of the day?

how many are caught in the cycle of piece work, where you are paid by the pieces you produce, or you have a quota for the day that does not allow much time to adjust the body or mind to a pace that does not over tax the body and mind ?

How many people work where there is no regard for the ergonomics's of the work space ?

How many people work with insufficient safety equipment or substandard safety precautions in place.

How many people work for brutal tyrannical maniac's.

over all there may not be many ideal work situations.. there are many unstable families and there are families that have incessant drama, and there are jobs with many many many conditions which tax the individual...

Qver - all... we as individual still must find a way to determine what type of employee we will be.. some things we can't change, and some things may be difficult to change and in some cases there may be some things that will not change.

    Quoting  :

you make a good boss, but also one that is attuned to the new generation of how people see life and work.

the old days, people defined themselves by their work.. today people don't define themselves in full by their work.. the new generation of good managers, are those who look at the end results of getting the job done, respectfully and with a congenial manner in how they do it and how they treat their co workers and their work environment.

a wise manager understand the art of delegation...

Sadly, there are many who have not taken time to explore the changes in work styles and work place mentalities.

but those who understand the employees are 'internal customers" of the business, because they buy into the ideal and the work that it takes to service the 'external customers'... The first priority is to treat the internal customers fair, equitable and right, because they are the source and force that services the external customers and this cycle keeps the company progressive and vibrant.

sometimes even the system is more powerful than the managers
