Things we rely upon

It's amazing there are locations noted for rain, wind, snow and such things, and many of these have their public utility power where it actually continues to function.

The wind blows here, the power might go out, the rain comes hard, the power might go out, the cable goes out and such things.

Well this was the nature of things Christmas Morning.. Then when I drove around the block to see if technicians were working on it, It turned out that only the block I live on had this problem. Across the street from me they had power and everyone around the complete block on the other side of the street had power.

I certainly hope no Major Storm system comes through here. ....

I guess, the block I'm on has a poor grid connection or people allow so much over growth of trees and vines during the summer, until it makes the lines sag and touch each other when the wind blows. Yard the trees are very big and old, and they seem to have limbs that fall on the lines. It's quite amazing how many oak trees seem to have limbs falling off and crashing into some of the lawns.

What ever is the reason... may aim is to get a larger generator which will power my entire house. The small one is OK for a few appliance, but the better scenario is to have a unit that powers the full house. which is both connected to the Natural Gas line and have an auxiliary tank for Liquid Gas.

Such things is a small glimpse of the shut down effect that happens with public utilities. our dependence is so great until we are unaware to remember how to function without this stuff.

I will work to build in my back yard also an outdoors cooking area and something to store emergency supplies in the case of any multi utility outages.

I guess its time for society to build a new generation of homes, that are self sustaining in power and other things which currently rely too much on public utilities.

I think in most cities we don't recognize our dire reliance factor until some of this stuff does not work.

I guess when the power goes out, the best thing to have is a mate... at least in the quiet time... we can make our own powers entertain each other.
