Long ago, when there was a level of regulatory governance of the media content.... (some call it censorship)... More Dignity was present, not only among the entertainers, but in general society. Today with the accessibility to this "silliness" easily being attained by any youth who is with a cell phone can tune in to this stuff. Today, as young as 6-7 are equipped with cell phone, or they will throw an ongoing tantrum until the parents buy them one. Mix this with 140 character of twitter and facebook posting, Anything that incites with the drama of sex, bling, and slap stick comedic content... continues to influence a society into a level of shallowness .... to the point people are now looking for second by second drama fix.... It's like an addiction... the thought of withdrawal symptoms are probably on par with the withdrawal symptoms from heavy drugs. Cross that with "kill something" based video games, followed by "reality TV.".. along with the shallowness of some of the songs today... has wiped out a sense of dignity and insured that cultural temperament toss out any regards for dignity. Vanity and Ego's has produced a society so fragile and so easily driven by media... society may never re-gain any regard for dignities re-emergence. Absurdity ... amplified.
