Repairs

Geez !!!! trying to get my other house in shape. It has been a nightmare since I had it. Each Person who lived there resulted to cost me, in a number of ways.
It has been sitting empty for one year. after getting most of the stuff done, in the past week, don't know what happen to the keys to the front doors, so had to change those locks.
Then the water was turned on... WOW... the water in the bathtub would not stop running, under the sink was leaking, then the faucets in the kitchen would not shut off, the faucets in the laundry room were in the on position and would not close. Then the drain pipe under the bathroom sink just broke off.
When we attempted to change the valves in to the water for the tub, it was crazy, the pipes are deep behind the wall, and some long cylinder unit had to be replaced, the problem is the people who built the house seem to have put some kind of cement around the cylinder, it had to be chipped away.
This does not count, that I put some vinyl tile on the floor, ( removed the carpet), Previous I had a guy to stain the wood floors but he did a poor job and these were the original wood squares, so we put the tile down over it. ( non expensive tile !!!).
Painted the rooms, painted the kitchen cabinets, now at this point i hope no other issues come up.

It would have been nice to have put good wood or ceramic tile on the floors ( if my mother had wanted to live in it), but she likes where she lives.

People can be hell on property, especially when they don't own it.

I simply don't get why people screw up other peoples property.

Strange stuff, at my home, the garbage disposal went bad, last week the cable box quit working, the door fell off my vanity cabinet in my bathroom which is connected to my bedroom. The lawn light stems have over time been broken by the weather and Gardner or something. The doors to my small office building in the back yard separated, ( why they put these cheap doors on in the first place is a mystery, these type of doors should never be placed on an outdoors entry point.
so, this summer will be a bit busy, REPAIRING THESE THINGS.

Not to mention, the car is in need of a tune up. It's crazy, because they mostly only put spark plugs and a few adjustments, along with I want the transmission fluid changes, this will be right at $500.

Stuff.... just cost $$ no matter what... The way to avoid the cost is probably not to own anything

I need to buy some exercise equipment, but also I want to enclose the Patio, or maybe I will use one of the bedrooms as a area to put it.

It's time to have the dogs groomed, that's another $100.

Oh yea, I don't like the mattress on my bed, so that is another elements, along with the fact I don't like the lounge chair in the den, so it needs to be replaced with one that is more comfortable.

Then all the carpet needs to be removed and either wood or ceramic tile placed in every room, except my bedroom. that is the only room I want to have carpet.

Now, the big matter is: Finding the Funds to do this stuff.

A friend had his house floors covered in wood, @ $7,000. So I know it will have a high cost to do mine as well.

I also saw a car I want, it is a Mini-Cooper.... so I've got some planning to do along with pursuing some means to increase income.

I did however connect with a guy a work, whom is interested in helping me re-start my business, along with another friend from California, who is not sure if he wants to relocate to this state, but he is thinking of business ideas.

I look at the variety of things which has resulted to get old, as well as things that need doing. It is just not possible to live without the ongoing expenses of Maintenance Cost and Product and Material Upgrades.
I just don't see how it can ever be possible to get to a point where everything is without upkeep cost.

Mine is 4 brd, the yard is a good size for the dogs, I have more than enough parking.
The other house is 3bdrm, it has a nice back yard, I'm sure the agency I plan to lease it to will place families in it who will enjoy and appreciate it. I had hoped it would be a home used by family members, but that did not work on it those ways.

I don't see much of why people need a giant mansion, here I basically use my den, my office, my bedroom and kitchen on a frequent basis.

I try not to go out an buy things I don't really need, as I have more than enough stuff to keep me occupied.

I do agree the upkeep is work and it does cost. I don't agree to people not taking care of their front and back yards and maintaining their home in respect of ones self and what they feel of respect for the community.

I noticed in every home I lived in, people in the community seem to maintain their homes and they do enhancements when others keep up their homes and make them look nice.

There are so many ways a home can be made to look and feel. but what I think is of great matters, is for the home to be clean, comfortable and peaceful. Peace in the home is very important.
No matter how the world spins, if there is peace in the home one can find solace with self.

Well, I took of the switching mechanism, went to buy a new one, wouldn't you now it, "THEY DON'T CARRY THIS TYPE". As I looked at the variety of Ceiling Fans, it seems they make the QUALITY lower and lower.
The one I removed had a snap on plug electrical connector, the news one seem to be made real cheaply.

I guess the days of quality products which are truly made well are reserved only for the wealthy who can and will pay $1000's of dollars for various things.

    Quoting beautifulkayra:
When Dad sold one of the houses we had, he gave us some cash.
I used mine to travel to US, Canada and Australia, I was 21 at that time. My sisters put their money together and bought a house.
Its located at one of the suburb. Quite far from the city, sisters decided to rent it up.

Too many bad stories about people who rent the house. Last time I heard my sis neighbor rented it to someone and took the money with her. She disappeared. The house look very messy and totally need a huge renovation.

I told my sis, to keep the house and may renovate it later.

Its the reason I don't keep more than one house. Some friends do that. They bought houses and rent them out. But always need a lots of money to fix things from time to time.

Agree with you, peace is all we need at home. Clean is what matter most.
We have some family land, I don't even try to deal with it, there are just to many people involved, I once thought about it, but when I told the members the thought, they sold the lumber, but did not manage how it was cut, it resulted to be a mess. It is far less than what I was told, but it still equal about 4 acre each. the guy who pays the taxes, has not sent me a bill "ever", so I know he has position himself to take over the property.

This other house, I had one tenant who completely destroyed it. This guy must have "fried" everything they would eat, because the floor was full of cooking oil, the carpet was like asphalt and the house had roaches like crazy, then he removed the vents from all the air conditioning ducts, then he cut up a mop and flushed it down the drain. He left all his crap in the house, and one room had clothes all over the floor which the dog had slept on. People like that don't even deserve to live in a cave.

Yes, I want to buy a good mattress too, but the cost is crazy.
It cost me $400 plus dollars to have Spark Plugs put in my car, and another $300 to have the Transmission serviced. After costing a total of $775.41 I could not believe he held his hand out waiting on the .41 cent.
