the insanity of it all

Girl, 9, kills Arizona shooting instructor with Uzi in accident

TUCSON Ariz. (Reuters) - A 9-year-old girl accidentally shot and killed her shooting instructor at an Arizona range with an Israeli-made Uzi submachine gun when the weapon's strong recoil caused her to lose control of her aim, police said on Tuesday.

They said that Charles Vacca, 39, had been standing next to the girl at the Last Stop shooting range in White Hills near the Nevada border on Monday morning showing her how to fire the automatic weapon.

When she pulled the trigger, the recoil forced her aim over her head, and Vacca was shot in the head, according to a Mohave County Sheriff’s Office statement.

"I remember being taught to use a 22 rifle at that age when I visited relatives who owned a farm."

When I was 9, we were shooting peas through drinking straws. The problem was the straws were made from waxed paper (back then) and would collapse when set to automatic mode.

One a serious note, I recall a similar situation with a young boy at a gun show.

The raw video is on You Tube in several palaces but it's censured (on some uploads) and stops at the moment she looses control.

    Quoting  :

That's the system, they wait till something tragic happens then reality sets in. there is not even a reason a 12 yr old needs to be at a gun range.

The craziness about guns, is insane, I have some but I don't treat them as toys nor as novelty items. They are for protection. PERIOD!!!

Think of all the kids who have shot up schools, and the kids who get ticked off and they run to get a gun. You can't get a driver license, until 15 and some states 16, but a kid can have a gun, that's insane.
