Are you the Type

When Products hit the market, are you the type who will run out and get it just because it is a new model?

Would you stand in line to get it?

If your units currently serves your needs, do you have an overwhelming need to have the latest model, just because it is highly promoted?

What drives you to make the choice to "change" or "upgrade" ?

My first cellphone lasted a few years. I was forced to upgrade when the carrier merged with another company. The replacement phone was with me for a few years and I was offered another upgrade for free. I didn't like the features of the newer phone and replaced the battery of the older phone keeping it several years more. My boss (at the time) paid me to upgrade to a Blackberry and I used it 2 years, upgrading to another Blackberry that I kept for 2 years.

The incentive to phone upgrades came with contract renewals until I got into touchscreen phones where email, texting, camera & photo gallery features had me buying bigger (and more capable) phones faster than contract renewals.

I'm a year into a 2 year contract and the phone I'm using that gave me fits of rage in the beginning has been through 3 manufacturer updates and become a stable reliable tool I rely on daily.

The manufacturer announced the next model release later this year but I'm waiting to see if the new features justify a mid-contract purchase... probably not. My phone isn't broken so I see no need to 'fix it' unless I jump ship with my carrier for a better data plan, I'll continue with the current phone.

Computers and upgrades... I have a few running Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 and retired at least 5 computers running XP that my office mandated we can no longer use on the corporate network due to security vulnerability. Unfortunately, I prefer XP.

I don't recall standing in line to to buy any hot new product.

My current phone was bought the 2nd day they came on sale at retail stores... no line, no waiting.

My boss came to me yesterday to show off his new iPhone 6 he purchased 1 hour before his arrival to the office. Nice phone. It was much awaited for many.

I don't rush to change, I'm currently using a Windows phone, I'm interested in storage capacity and what the spec list it as being capable of which suits my interest.. and connectivity. Currently I use one of the low cost programs. with Tax it cost me $56. a month. $10 extra will keep the speed high after the 2.5 GB, but I've have not yet used it to the point where I need more. As i don't spend a lot of time on the phone. I don't currently do any social media on the phone, beyond using occasionally text. I do have two emails that come to the phone, the one I check daily for personal home use, I don't have it linked to my phone.
I don't do banking with the phone. though I may deposit money in Pay Pal for use in case I need to buy something I may want.
The Bank keeps telling me, to download their app, but I don't see a current need to do so. I also can pay bills with my computer, but some of them I have set up on auto debit. ( the ones where the cost does not change monthly)..
I learned a hard lesson with T-Mobil... I went to Thailand, and when I returned I was hit with a $1500 bill.. which was insidious, when I could have bought a sims card in Thailand for $40. But the T-mobile people told me some bad info. All they resulted to do was loose a customer whom they ripped off.

I'm not into the games, so I have none downloaded to my phone, I do however like apps that function.

I know I will upgrade, to get the sensor which makes the compass work, and this one has a single camera, but why they did not put a flash is rather odd... So those are my interest to upgrade.

I don't currently see switching to Apple, because all my stuff is Windows, and I plan to buy a Windows Surface Pro or such when I decide to get a table, or at least some brand that is windows based.

Years ago, I use to buy all kinds of software, but one day it dawned on me that I can do much of what I want to do with the existing software I had.
So I no longer just go out and buy all kinds of stuff, I may choose some application specific things.

I plan to get rid of the mental distortion and re-indulge in learning more about web design and the languages I need to know to create the things I want to create.

I know people, including at work who like to have the latest things. I remember when everyone rushed out to get the Ipad, and then when apple bombarded them with newer models, they seemed to not be so quick to keep upgrading.

I've tried the Google based Android, but currently its not my idea to switch. I actually have no problems with my Windows phone, it does what I want it to do.
I'll check for the one that has broader memory and the things mentioned above.

As to standing in lines, I'm not in the least interested in standing in lines. when I was younger, I would not stand in line for a pay check, I'd just come and get it the next day, before I'd stand in a line waiting for it.

Just as my personal opinion, I don't believe in the many things used in Advertising, In some cases I find it irritating. I'm, interested in the spec's and then I care to look at the 'how to" of functions.

I don't run around taking pictures of everything that comes in view, so I basically use the camera for specific things of specific interest. Not that there are not many many interesting things worthy of photographing, because certainly there is, but I know I'm not going to be one who goes back looking at thousands of pictures.

I would however, like a phone that has the capability to directly plug a USB into, without needing some converter cable.
