What shape is the world taking.

as we get older It brings attentions to how much things change and how much things have changed.

We seem to have moved to an era where the value of life is less than the want for material things among everyday people.

This is always been true ( the value of life is less than the want for material things) among the powerful and the ruling leader all through history, As people have abused, enslaved and brutalized masses. In some parts of the world the wealthy and powerful ruling elites continue this habit.

But when it becomes a habit among the everyday people, the level of its tragic results are multiplied tremendously.

Neither is right, it is not right for the wealthy, the powerful or the ruling elites to devalue life in pursuit of material things, nor is it right among the mass of everyday people to devalue life in pursuit of material things.

    Quoting  :

Yes, this among the delusional pursuit of opulence beyond the reason of comfort, because one then has to spend more time and energy protecting it from others, until it become a challenge.
What is the point of a Million Dollar or 2 Million Dollar car. That goes faster than any city, town or countryside will allow legally. America lost itself in the pursuit of exaggerated status. Love suffers, as well as I see so many women and men struggling with mounds of weaved on hair, and it's not select to any particular group, it has become a thing of women and men wanting the ILLUSION of long thick hair or some Rastafarian look. . When its evident it was not natural to their nature born individual being.
I'm guilt of one thing, and that is having implanted teeth, and will get more for the bottom soon, but it was not by basic want, it is due to issue that required me to need them.

I use to own many cars, and what I found was the beautiful classic Porsche, resulted to sit in the garage, both in Los Angeles, and then again when I moved here. It has been sold, Now, I have 'one car", I've pondered a second, but I have more important things, such as necessary repairs to my home.
I see many people who change their phones with every new model that comes to advertisements saturation.
I see people with auto parked at homes when the homes need massive visible repairs, there is so much that's simply amazing.

I don't do Starbucks, but I do like they have concern for their employees, but I just can't fathom paying $4-5 for coffee. When I can drink Circle K coffee for $1.08 when I re-use the cup.

when I turn on the news and see groups in multiple countries slaughtering people as if its no more than chopping down weeds, and they have absolutely no remorse about their actions.

the enormity of destruction man generates is astounding, not just by blowing up stuff and destroying places, its the other part of how greed destroyed industries and left decimated communities where houses are falling down or over grown vacant lots have become pure blight, Again, look at Detroit, its the worlds example of what greed can build and then greed destroyed it a matter of 30 yrs or so.
Before I left LA, are that once were prime were falling into despair and forcing the prices up even higher in select areas as a means of protectionism for the wealthy fewer in various groups.

It's insanity, when I see a pair of Tennis Shoes cost over $100 dollars, I can in no way fathom why I'd consider paying that for a pair, unless inflation went so high, until there was no means to get them for a lesser cost. $25-30-40 tennis shoes work fine for me.

Then we have the youth culture in the house slipper mentality, as if they have got it made, when many work jobs that could not even prepare them to purchase a home, even in some of the lesser maintained areas, Yet, they have the leisure look to even extend to wearing pajama's out in public.

The media now harps on any slim figure woman as if she is a goddess and then hail everything they do as if its the grandest thing ever, but it first must contain the most lewd overtones imaginable. and people pursue with a wild passion, what ever advertisers use them to promote. The advertisers now scrape low, to use the youngest they can get away with, and outline them in captions of lustful allure, and people call this 'the good life".. It's purely insane, as dignity has sank low, integrity to some is something you buy, by flaunting something, and character is all about caricature imagery.

Then comes the insidious display of 'Reality TV" projecting imbeciles as comedy and a passage to celebrity.

Maybe there is cynicism, but that's fine, I'd chose it over the role of being led and misled by the dictates of advertising and popularity chasing madness.

What people forgot along the way... is to learn what is "freedom"... they think its do what you want, any way you want, when ever you want, how ever you want and where ever you want.
They never learned that "Freedom is first and foremost" a responsibility to be responsible. but people don't know what to be responsible for or unto. So the resulting summary is, communities falters and family become combatants.

What's sad is so many places around the world, seek to emulate the procession of what America has followed.

Probably the only thing that will change the dynamics is global economic collapse. forcing people to think about life sustaining needs and not the pomp and pageantry which dominate the spectrum in this day and age. Sadly, it may bring out the extremity of beast like motivations in the human spectrum to a degree unimaginable.
