Big blast

It's amazing how much damage the blast did to the Chinese Port Area.

Looking at the pictures it was tremendously large...... What could have possibly been the catalysis for such a blast?

I think China lacks of "Urban Planning". They should divided Residential area, Commercial area, Industrial area, .... The industrial area should be in rural separate from residential and commercial to prevent such a disaster of dangerous chemical blowout in a residential mixed with industrial area. There are more than 100 people death since the explosion.

Communist China has the highest "vacant house" rate in the whole world. There are "ghost town" apartments, condos, malls, ..... empty for many years. Those buildings are 20 - 30 floors and nobody live there. Isn't that very strange? A Br itch real estate expert said in a YouTube video that he estimated China has at least 64 millions vacancy for years. What a waste !! They think if they build it, people will buy it. But the price is too high, the majority can't afford to buy. But the government rather let those building vacant but NOT lower the price. They don't know the simple rule "Supply need to balance with Demand".

China doesn't have "urban planning". USA has much better planning. You can't open a shop in a residential area or a factory (industry) in residential area. I have been to China (although only 8 days/6 nights), but I saw the system is NOT good as in USA. The land in Taiwan is very limited so population is very condensed. The lower floors in a building can be commercial (shop or offices) and upper floors can be residential. The noise from bottom floors can be heard on upper floors (residence). I have lived in USA for over 35 years, when I went back to Taiwan for 32 day in 2011, I realized the traffic, the noise, the dirty environment, ... I can't tolerate anymore. I will stay in USA. I already got used to the clean and quiet residential area in USA.

i live in the South, the cities are not polished like some of the Los Angels areas, but they have very nice areas where the more wealthy people live which can meet with some upscale Los Angeles areas. Here there is less traffic, the weather is hot in summer and cold in winter, and its at time quick change up.
but I do appreciate no major traffic to deal with, I live in a residential area, there is no mass industry near me that could cause a problem. The only thing is, there are trains that do run through various parts of the city and community, its an unavoidable reality in many parts - but over all unless there is an airborne toxic spill, I don't have to worry. It's a working class community, the demographics is changing, but that's just how life is.

I know some people who want to live way out in the country. I'm not driven for that move, because I like to be reasonably close to facilities of shopping, hospitals and such.

In many towns across America there are various levels and type of housing near various types of industry. But in general, Business and Industry sections are designated as being such and are not designed nor suitable for residential.

China has a lot of work to do on a lot of things - as pharmacist said, it does not make sense to build new housing and living developments and leave them empty. It is a demonstration of China WASTING its wealth, rather than utilize and make these places livable by people in the working class levels.
I'm not one for wanting to live in massive high-rise building, but that seems to be a standard in China's Major Metro's.

Living close to any Dock and Shipping Port has to have many dangers that are never discussed until something happens.

China is an ancient country (5,000 - 6,000 yrs). Have you heard "Old habit die hard"? USA is only 239 yrs. USA roads are made for driving. I live in a high ground (hills with view) residential area. No noise, no pollution, no traffic (tolerable) and clean environment. It adjacent to mall, park, FWY, market, banks, restaurants, ..... but we need to drive (NOT WALK). Americans like to drive. On the contrary, Chinese like to walk. They like to live in walking distance, public transportation, .... I saw residential area in China, the narrow alleys, lanes, ... only allow 3 -4 people walking.

I don't understand why the Tanjing city allow a "chemical company" exist in a residential area???? Don't they have to issue "permit"or "license"??? It is very important to separate "industry" from residential area.

Please Google "China's Ghost Cities and Malls". I can't provide the website address here. See for yourself. China let the modern houses vacant, city after city, and their people live at narrow alleys, lanes, dirty and crowded area. It's logically WRONG.

I am a simple person, but I know "Supply need to balance with Demand". China built so many building to show-off their GDP %. Go figure !!
