Obama has been a spectacular failure in the sense that he could never fulfill expectations. Part of it was that he lacks a certain courage. I voted for him and would never vote for any of his likely Republican opponents.
Still, I will not vote for him on the basis that he is a performer and perpetual candidate rather than a decisive leader. Plus, I think he is tone deaf to what Americans need and want: Jobs and a sense of optimism.
He reminds of that old Curtis Mayfield lyric, "we hoped you would be the very best, but the brother proved to be so much less."

Amazing, you simply omitted "8 years" of spend, borrow, and allow everything to deteriorate, while all the focus was directed at fighting wars on credit, and chasing oil on other peoples land... and left as a result, an atrocity of a situation in a nation, wiped out 500 years of equity growth, and left a deficit which was and is designed to last for the next 20 years.

It's amazing how much we forget, when we don't get an immediate quick fix.

This time, the reality is, we have to work our way out, it will be costly and it will bring and pose challenges within our efforts - to the same degree our efforts have created, supported and manifest havoc in the global system, as well as how we have disregarded the core elements of a nation, for more than 30 years prior.

There is not - rub the magic lantern, and all is well.... It took us much spending to get in the mess and it will take a greater amount to get out of the mess..

Money makes Money, and Austerity has and will continue to produce degraded conditions as well as expended suffrage.

tonality in mentality, is as much a factor as is, the work that must be put forth and the investment which must be made. The wealthy should not only be taxed, they should have been taxed, and maybe they in an extreme sense would even need that to be retro-active. ( which it won't),

The picture is far bigger than ones anguish about paying taxes,

I find it odd, when you say, Parisian, without regard to consider the overly Parisian view and actions of the Republicans.

It's additionally and odd thing, that you'd expect him to fix all this stuff, when he walked into a mess greater than any President since Roosevelt. and times are different where the right wing today, will not work with, nor allow any funds the government spends to benefit the nation and progress us.

As much as you talk about money, it is such a strange thing, that you of all people would be of the mindset to think a few trillion dollars, could make even a small dent in the 100's of Trillions that was wipes out, looted and stashed away by the wealthy. Bush left office, and stated that the budget would not be balanced for more than 10 years, did anyone think the massive borrowing by Bush was free, and did anyone think that the neglect to manage the financial health of the country was to be over-looked for 8 years, along with neglect for the infrastructure, as well as unemployment was above 8% in general and well above 10% for minorities, long before the election was even in full force, by the time Obama got office all these things were off the charts...

It's amazing how people not only did not want a black man in office, but once he is there, they expect him to be a miracle maker... I find that funny...

This is one time, the black man can't fix the problems created by the white men in a blink of an eye...

I continually find these type of discussion to be in some ways an oddity of many things.
People don't see the "global magnitude" of the situation, Nor do people look at the history of banking and how the connection between Banking and Wall Street, took down a nation. Nearly collapsed the GLOBAL economy which played right into the game following their own greed cycles.

Most people do not even factor the concept of what it means to loose more than 100 Trillion dollars globally, and possibly much more. Nor do people factor the ongoing cost of the decision that were made over an 8 year period.

The few trillion we spent so far on the war, is nothing compared to the loss, the deterioration and the after cost of the actual war, amounts to. Nor do people see the value involved in the massive transfer of industrial capacity. Nor the way the sham was set up to deplete the equity in the nations most valuable material commodity, which was the homes of people.

Add in a run away insurance system, a robber Barron medical system, and Attorneys who contort anything for a profit. Until they collude the system of a nation with get rich schemes that rob the system of its stabilizing resources. We have a Republican system, that was exposed as a looting system, they lied their way with smoke and mirrors with their head candidate claiming the economy was fine until the dust of collapse nearly blinded him.

All the While Bush was using the Arabs and playing with fuel prices to get pennies to prop up the economy until he could get out of town. But it all caved in. They then, set up to give, yes give, nearly a Trillion dollars to the same banks that looted the nations, and played with the system like it was a Giant Casino. and Wall Street played along like the Taj Mahal .

Moody's was busted for giving false rating to bonds, and now they are discovering that Standards and Poor's was complicit in the same game. they used every method of loot and deceive to try and fake the illusion of a moving economy, when more than 65% of GDP was based on excessive trading of fake paper drummed up by Wall Street, and pushed by banks, and sold around the globe.

America dumped multiple Trillions of dollars of functional Industry, in its search for slaves on foreign soil, all so the wealthy could gain 500% on cheap goods, and then tell Americans they can't compete.

When the true fact is America was known for quality goods, and the world bought them, because they were made well. But the Wealthy turned us into a disposable society, because there is more profit in cheap disposables which must be frequently replaced, than to build quality goods and pay quality wages to support the purchase of such.

American companies are the ones who used the Chinese to make 'cheap low quality goods", and then blame the Chinese, when it was American companies that set the production standards so low.

I wrote about all of this in 2006, and 2007, when I had these very same discussion with AlphaMale. and I said then, by the time Bush leaves office the world economy and certainly the American Economy would be devastated, he disputed it, but as I said then, wait and see.. and exactly as I said, is what came into existence.

You can't repair greed with a few trillion dollars. when the republican won't allow policy changes with their denial mentality. they'd rather see the nation collapse, in their efforts for a tax break, and trying to make themselves look good, by making this Administration appear that it is not doing what it needs to do.
They hope it will over shadow the mess Bush made, but nothing can overshadow that, because it will take another decade and more stimulus to keep us stable, before we can even begin to grow again. We will have to institute massive banking reforms, and a major over-haul to Wall Street, and that will take time. Insurance must be made to never play credit default swaps, and derivatives must become a thing of the past, and Short selling will need to be outlawed, as well as speculation must have stern controls put in place.

There will need to come a break up of monopolies, and just like Early America it learned the destructive nature of monopolies, and it will again, be pushed to break up these mega banks, mega insurance companies and push for full circle economic re-modeling...

That is like trying to turn a super tanker in fishing pond.. It will take a great deal of doing. But in order for it to be done, there may be the need for a near full collapse. Because American people are too easily distracted and led by mob bully driven drama, before they are stunned into being mentally awakened.

In the middle of the last Presidential Election process, we are so out of our minds, we let the Paris Hilton silliness dominate the air waves when a nation was in Crisis and in need to pay attention to the elements involved in the nations economy, as it simply caved in, from the grab fest of looting. While we are worried about some blond chick who got famous for banging someone on video. That's how out of touch and lost we are.

We can't any longer live on the fake bravado of the 'All Powerful Post World War II delusion, that era is gone and it left in its wake, as much damage as was done to other nations during world War II. it simply was a different kind of damage.

We are yet, unaware to acknowledge and be made away to pay attention.

At any minute the focus of the nation can to thrown into a tail spin, by some woman banging some man with a title... and crying foul, because she can't accept responsibility for managing the taking off and on her own panties.
But, we are drama junkie society, that live like a mob, led by catch phrase pundits... and we go into a stupor of ignorance, while we again get fleeced by the wealthy who control and regulate us as if we are a mass of indentured servants, repeating what talk show and radio show million dollar men utter, all in their attempt to make more money, by creating drama.

We are living like a wild frivolous kids in a world among nations that have 1000's of years of history to draw upon, and we are too arrogant to learn from it. We let the greed of a few, turn a nation into a living hell for a mass of our own population. Now people expect President Obama to fix this madness in the blink of an eye.

Most of the Right wing Candidates can't even run a single state and make it prosper, so they have no room to challenge nor put down a President who helped shore up a nation who had been looted by a right wing driven group of wealthy thieves.
The worst thing at this era of America that it could do, is to install another Right Wing Republican in the Highest Office of this Governmental System.

Never in the history of this Nation, has America known any true progress for the common people and the nation as a whole, under a Republican Led Administration and President.

I doubt many get the gravity of what the nation was when he took office.
Pay attention to how many TRILLIONS of dollars vanished during the 2008 prior to his taking office. Along with Bush in his mess already said the budget would not be balanced for 10 yrs, even before he left office.

It's insane that people think you can fix a mess that simply wiped out probably a 100 Trillions dollars globally, and people expect this mess to have been fixed for a few trillions dollars. Geez !!! Bush Raised the debt until he broke the debt clock, but no one seems to understand the gravity of that, nor that the debt went up over 6 trillion PLUS, during Bush Term, and the liabilty expense of Bush Terms was no less than 10-20 Trillion left to only show up, after he left office.

No matter what Agenda a person start with, when they fact this kind of challenge the agenda is modified some items take the back burner, and the thrust is to try and get the economy some level of stability, so it can remain erect, that does not mean it can prosper right away, it means it cost a lot to shore it up, so it does not simply collapse.

people EXPECT, too much, because they don't pay attention.
Policies set up that let Wall Street Run wild, and banks to become criminal Conglomerates, and corporations to set up off shore and establish offshore monopolies, and then export the stuff back here, duty free is a reality... but you expect someone to have fixed that much mess in 3 years, with a Republican Senate that fights everything, and their only mission is to support the super rich at any cost to the nation.

Wow... We are far less intelligent as a whole, and the sadness is that people are unaware of how unaware they are.

Pay attention to the work that was done, and many may see President Obama has done an extensive job to support America and address the mess he was handed, with exceptional progress, when all factors are considered..,

Those who expect a magic wand to be waved, are delusional without regard to look at perspective and reality of converging factors.
