Not just a story about the shoes

I have a pair of shoes which is beautiful when I wear it that I love it so much. It cost me about 300 yuan to buy it (rather expensive if you measure it by Chinese commodity prices).

Unfortunately, when the first day I wore this pair of shoes, my heels were hurting. One of my heels had been hurt seriously that made me hard to walk and I had to stick band-aids on each of my heels, as new shoes always have such problems of hurting heels and girls usually use this method to prevent hurting.

I thought I just need time to get used to my new shoes, or the shoes need time to make themselves fit for my heels through their adjustment when time goes by. I thought the situation would be better soon.

Yesterday it was the fifth day that I wore the shoes already. My heels were still hurting from wearing them.

I have to ask myself now, does this pair of beautiful shoes really fit me? How long will it still have to take to get through this running-in period so that it won't hurt my heels any longer? Do I need to give up, or keep enduring such painful adjustment?

Sometimes it's not just a story, or a choice about the shoes.

I leave no trace of wings in the air, but I am glad I have had my flight. ---- Rabindranath Tagore

In 1986, the Marcos regime of the Philippines was overthrown in a people’s revolt and the dictator Ferdinand and wife Imelda Marcos were forced to flee the Malacañang Palace. Imelda fled wearing her espadrilles. Because she was flying to Hawaii in an American helicopter provided by U.S. President Reagan and paid with American tax dollars, she was unable to take her enormous wardrobe. In the palace closet, she left behind between 2 and 3 thousand shoes. Imelda Marcos was the First Lady of the Philippines, a country deep in poverty. The outrage was immediate and the news went international. President Marcos’ successor, Corazon Aquino, ordered many of Mrs Marcos’ shoes to be put on display as a demonstration of her extravagance.

well i bought a pair of grandly comfortable suede shoes for one dollar at what we call here in New Zealand, a "Garage Sale", usually a saturday or sunday event where you advertise you are selling odds and ends from your garage.

...story goes that i got them resoled for $65 dollars and i am happy to have kept a cobbler (shoe repair man) in business and my feet are always comfortable.

I think shoes should be comfortable and conform to the foot within a short time, if it persist, the design may not be made for comfort but only for looks.. and comfort matters more than the looks... because nothing can ruin a day like sore feet... or shoes that hurt the foot.

I've given up on some shoes that I paid $120 for, which were made by Brass Boot, first I had to have the part on the heel removed, because it was some kind of hard pressed material that made the shoe slip on tile floors, I had that replaced with rubber, then the bottom of the shoe which was part rubber encased in a leather border , which I thought would be good for shock absorption, but the rubber part seem too thin and I could fell when I stepped on rocks.
I have switched back to my more comfortable - Stacey Adams, my preferred style is "The Madison" - Stacy Adams Biscuit Toe" $110.00 - black, brown, grey. I tried the Stacy Adams, 00042-01, but the shoe crack at the biscuit toe area, and I have the 00034 , I may try the 00055 in brown... But one this shoes forms to the foot it is very comfortable. and its easy to have it fitted with a new half sole, and rubber taps... to keep the heel from wearing on one side.

but no matter what kind I wear, when I get home .. I want to take my shoes off right away.

Most of the women at work, wear high heels, but they take them off to walk to their car for lunch or when they are ready to go home, and some take them off at their desk and put on some flats. I don't think these shoes are designed for comfort, because some are hard molded material with no padding, and force women to walk on the ball under the big toe, as if they are 'tip toeing" - I think they are not designed for walking much, but more for looks. if a woman had to walk more than one block at a time, the shoes are simply not suited for it.

I have worn the Stacy's on the airplane and normally the feet swell while on the plane and it makes shoes hard to get back on, but with the Stacy's I could get them back on comfortably.

Jmenyo. The shoes that hurt are a modern kind of foot binding aren't they. They are beautiful I am sure, but they cause you pain. Maybe there is a bit of Zen in this:
To walk freely we must travel barefoot.
Or maybe, you can keep wearing the shoes and get used to the pain... sort of like a bad relationship with someone expensive and beautiful that hurts.
