Can we really DIE from lack of sleep or sleep deprivation?

It has been taught in school that we should get at least 7-8 hours of sleep daily in order to get enough rest and recharge for the next day. People who sleep less than that, experience fatigue and sleepiness during work/school hours –and are prone to diseases like diabetes and heart problems. Now you are thinking of sleeping more? You shouldn’t. Oversleeping has the same effect and can cause more problems in the body. The body requires at least 6 hours of sleep daily or it could cause so many problems to your body in the future.

Why do we need sleep?

When we get home after a long day at work or at school, we are usually too tired to do anything else. But sometimes we bring our work home and of course we need to stay awake for that. Solutions? A lot of coffee, sodas, and yes chocolate can let you stay awake during working hours.

You yawn through the night trying to fend off sleep, but later on you end up sleeping anyway. This is what we call sleep deprivation. Be advised that sleep deprivation and insomnia are two completely different things. Sleep deprivation is what we do to ourselves, while insomnia is something that happens to us whether we like it or not. Yawning is a sign that you are “fighting sleep”. Word of advice: If you are sleepy, go to sleep—do not fight it off!

The most dangerous habit would be to sleep late at night, and then wake up late in the morning.
