Well, as a former spouse and father of several boys with bipolar disorder, I think the first and most important step is acceptance (rather than denial), the second is seeking help, and the third learning to deal with it and still function in a somewhat normal life. So, to me, it sounds like you have a good grip on your particular situation. I'd like to wish you continued success and improvement as time and attention move ever forward! All the best to you!

Hi Alice: I am very sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed bipolar. Have your psychiatrist MD prescribe you any medication? If yes, what are they? Do you have anyone beside you to take care of you? Take care ! Honesty is the best policy.

I asked your medication because I am a California licensed pharmacist. Olanzapine brand name is Zyprexa that indicated for agitation in acute bipolar mania or schizophrenia. As Valproic Acid brand name is Depakote ER that indicated for mania or bipolar or mixed phase. Besides medications, you can listen to soft and soothing music to relax to calm down and take it easy. I listen to music whenever I have chance even in the gym exercise. I hope this will help you a bit. Take care !! Honesty is the best policy.

I take a high dosage of olanzapine what makes me think my Doctor is exaggerating, but can not go against her words... As for Valproic Acid she also increased its dosage cause in a test the results were less than the therapeutical range. olanzapine 30mg and valproic acid 750 mg, that's what I take daily. ======================================================= How well you take the medicine? You have to report any side effects to your MD. Your MD has the expert adjustment and experience and treat you accordingly. I always listen to soft and soothing music which can calm me down and get rid of lonesomeness. Music doesn't have side effects and can heal you from internally. Honesty is the best policy.
