In fact there is almost no-one from anywhere here for the last dozen or so years. The heyday of this site was back around 2000-5, since then it has all been downhill for Friendfinder who must be $500m in the red - or at least Penthouse must be. FF works very poorly in China even with a VPN.

Is VPN very common in China?

Around me, still yes, but China makes it more and more difficult to find a working one. For local phone brands for example, they do their best to make sure one can't find or install one. For computers, it is meanwhile a situation of needing one to download one. It requires some effort, so i guess the usage is going down. |

What other networks do you use for communication in China? Do people in China have access to Line?

So is using a VPN legal in China? I heard that many websites related to social media got blocked.

Probably not, but i don't know how this would be punished. They do their best to block as much as possible and prevent you from using one - most commercial VPN don't work anymore, either can't connect or disconnect frequently. The ones still working are often slow and/or take ages to connect.
It comes in waves, every few months, the screws get tightened, sometimes it is impossible for weeks at a time to get any VPN to work, then it relaxes a bit again. The first half of 2023 was very bad, now it's a bit better, but still with problems.
Without VPN, basically any social media from outside of China is blocked, all Major News sites, everything related to Google... |

So it's not bad for you as you can still connect to the outside world.
Actually, what are you doing in China? Are you a student?
