Many Perspectives of Attitude

By living today, we build what become tomorrow. We must know what was within Yesterday, to understand what we are faced with today.

This was circulated in email at work, from xxxxxxxxx corporate.

A quick "trip report" from the pilot of the 747 that flew the shuttle back to Florida after the Hubble repair flight. A humorous and interesting inside look at what it's like to fly two aircraft at once . . .

Well, it's been 48 hours since I landed the 747 with the shuttle Atlantis on top and I am still buzzing from the experience. I have to say that my whole mind, body and soul went into the professional mode just before engine start in Mississippi, and stayed there, where it all needed to be, until well after the flight...in fact, I am not sure if it is all back to normal as I type this email. The experience was surreal. Seeing that "thing" on top of an already overly huge aircraft boggles my mind. The whole mission from takeoff to engine shutdown was unlike anything I had ever done. It was like a dream... someone else's dream.

We took off from Columbus AFB on their 12,000 foot runway, of which I used 11,999 1/2 feet to get the wheels off the ground. We were at 3,500 feet left to go of the runway, throttles full power, nose wheels still hugging the ground, copilot calling out decision speeds, the weight of Atlantis now screaming through my fingers clinched tightly on the controls, tires heating up to their near maximum temperature from the speed and the weight, and not yet at rotation speed, the speed at which I would be pulling on the controls to get the nose to rise. I just could not wait, and I mean I COULD NOT WAIT, and started pulling early. If I had waited until rotation speed, we would not have rotated enough to get airborne by the end of the runway. So I pulled on the controls early and started our rotation to the takeoff attitude.

The wheels finally lifted off as we passed over the stripe marking the end of the runway and my next hurdle (physically) was a line of trees 1,000 feet off the departure end of Runway 16. All I knew was we were flying and so I directed the gear to be retracted and the flaps to be moved from Flaps 20 to Flaps 10 as I pulled even harder on the controls. I must say, those trees were beginning to look a lot like those brushes in the drive through car washes so I pulled even harder yet! I think I saw a bird just fold its wings and fall out of a tree as if to say "Oh just take me". Okay, we cleared the trees, duh, but it was way too close for my laundry. As we started to actually climb, at only 100 feet per minute, I smelled something that reminded me of touring the Heineken Brewery in Europe ...I said "is that a skunk I smell?" and the veterans of shuttle carrying looked at me and smiled and said "Tires"! I said "TIRES??? OURS???"

They smiled and shook their heads as if to call their Captain an amateur...okay, at that point I was. The tires were so hot you could smell them in the cockpit. My mind could not get over, from this point on, that this was something I had never experienced. Where's your mom when you REALLY need her?

The flight down to Florida was an eternity. We cruised at 250 knots indicated, giving us about 315 knots of ground speed at 15,000' The miles didn't click by like I am use to them clicking by in a fighter jet at MACH .94. We were burning fuel at a rate of 40,000 pounds per hour or 130 pounds per mile, or one gallon every length of the fuselage. The vibration in the cockpit was mild, compared to down below and to the rear of the fuselage where it reminded me of that football game I had as a where you turned it on and the players vibrated around the board. I felt like if I had plastic clips on my boots I could have vibrated to any spot in the fuselage I wanted to go without moving my legs...and the noise was deafening. The 747 flies with its nose 5 degrees up in the air to stay level, and when you bank, it feels like the shuttle is trying to say "hey, let's roll completely over on our back"..not a good thing I kept telling myself. SO I limited my bank angle to 15 degrees and even though a 180 degree course change took a full zip code to complete, it was the safe way to turn this monster.

Airliners and even a flight of two F-16s deviated from their flight plans to catch a glimpse of us along the way. We dodged what was in reality very few clouds and storms, despite what everyone thought, and arrived in Florida with 51,000 pounds of fuel too much to land with. We can't land heavier than 600,000 pounds total weight and so we had to do something with that fuel. I had an idea...let's fly low and slow and show this beast off to all the taxpayers in Florida lucky enough to be outside on that Tuesday afternoon. So at Ormond Beach we let down to 1,000 feet above the ground/water and flew just east of the beach out over the water. Then, once we reached the NASA airspace of the Kennedy Space Center , we cut over to the Banana/Indian Rivers and flew down the middle of them to show the people of Titusville , Port St.Johns and Melbourne just what a 747 with a shuttle on it looked like. We stayed at 1,000 feet and since we were dragging our flaps at "Flaps 5", our speed was down to around 190 to 210 knots. We could see traffic stopping in the middle of roads to take a look. We heard later that a Little League Baseball game stop to look and everyone cheered as we became their 7th inning stretch. Oh say can you see...

After reaching Vero Beach , we turned north to follow the coast line back up to the Shuttle Landing Facility (SLF). There was not one person laying on the beach...they were all standing and waving! "What a sight" I thought...and figured they were thinking the same thing. All this time I was bugging the engineers, all three of them, to re-compute our fuel and tell me when it was time to land. They kept saying "Not yet Triple, keep showing this thing off" which was not a bad thing to be doing. However, all this time the thought that the landing, the muscling of this 600,000 pound beast, was getting closer and closer to my reality. I was pumped up! We got back to the SLF and were still 10,000 pounds too heavy to land so I said I was going to do a low approach over the SLF going the opposite direction of landing traffic that day. So at 300 feet, we flew down the runway, rocking our wings like a whale rolling on its side to say "hello" to the people looking on! One turn out of traffic and back to the runway to land...still 3,000 pounds over gross weight limit. But the engineers agreed that if the landing were smooth, there would be no problem. "Oh thanks guys, a little extra pressure is just what I needed!" So we landed at 603,000 pounds and very smoothly if I have to say so myself. The landing was so totally controlled and on speed, that it was fun. There were a few surprises that I dealt with, like the 747 falls like a rock with the orbiter on it if you pull the throttles off at the "normal" point in a landing and secondly, if you thought you could hold the nose off the ground after the mains touch down, think again...IT IS COMING DOWN!!! So I "flew it down" to the ground and saved what I have seen in videos of a nose slap after landing.

Then I turned on my phone after coming to a full stop only to find 50 bazillion emails and phone messages from all of you who were so super to be watching and cheering us on! What a treat, I can't thank y'all enough. For those who watched, you wondered why we sat there so long. Well, the shuttle had very hazardous chemicals on board and we had to be "sniffed" to determine if any had leaked or were leaking. They checked for Monomethylhydrazine (N2H4 for Charlie Hudson) and nitrogen tetroxide (N2O4). Even though we were "clean", it took way too long for them to tow us in to the mate-demate area. Sorry for those who stuck it out and even waited until we exited the jet.

I am sure I will wake up in the middle of the night here soon, screaming and standing straight up dripping wet with sweat from the realization of what had happened. It was a thrill of a lifetime. Again I want to thank everyone for your interest and support. It felt good to bring Atlantis home in one piece after she had worked so hard getting to the Hubble Space Telescope and back.

Eventually, when the details come into play, the people of Egypt will probably seek to gain back as much of the Billions their Ex President socked away.. Its quite evident he enriched himself off of the people for all those years, and resulted to have BILLIONS of dollars claimed as personal wealth. it is unlikely that salary would have amounted to anything even absurdly remotely close to such volumes of money. when the people are left with basic incomes and some with barely any income.

Maybe with the Google Exec. they can use the internet and the skills they have and track the money, and take it back and give it back to the country. Maybe as things continue to spin, it will send a ripple effect around the globe, and all the politicians, who end up being outrageously wealthy, but their salary does not justify it.
Some should be treated just like they treat drug dealers, and seize their asset.

It's evident that wisdom does not always come with age, because this old man, was too foolish to step aside and let the world change, its like a old man, with his hair dyed, trying to pretend he is still able to lead, when the fact is, he resulted to rob and mistreat the people for 30 years.

We are sure to see more and more government toppled by the people, and more and more the people taking back what was stolen from them as a society.
When China stops pumping and propping up N. Korea, N. Korean will tumble as well, and usher the people into the 21st century.

Cuba does not have the Soviet money anymore and China is tight fisted with its money and Russia will eventually realize its futile to keep trying to support a system in Cuba that is on a fast decline. the good thing, for Cuba, is in 2008, after the Us elections, it stated when it saw thee would be no Republican winner in the US, Cuba started making reform, and it will soon join the nations for Democracy.

Good things are to come, but not without a few challenges, but sure it is time for global change.

those who think beyond one liners may engage to explore the variables, some cannot and do not string the factors and may well have little to say about it.

Either way, the change will come and when the people feel they have a stand and can stand in some of these countries, they may well adopt method to stamp out terrorism in their own borders.
Eventually the people will get tired of seeing every day, 20 plus people being blown up by some nut case with a delusional aim to kill others, and claim martyrdom, in some vain self glory hunt.

More power to the people who have a voice and use it, they will continue to change the world, and the silent ones, who stand back will only ride through the gates after the strong fight and pave the way.

It will be great if the people of these nations and any nation, and every nation, take back the ill gotten gains from those criminals who wreak havoc with their dictatorship to enrich themselves off the people, as well as the swindlers who go into public service to make themselves rich.

It's amazing people post a blog and then want to tell people how and what to respond when they put up a open subject. Geez, these control freak are something else.
If one wants to think in one dimension one liner terms, that is their choice, but don't try to impose that trip on other people.

When I post those who think beyond one liners as well as those who think one liners are free to respond as they please.

but I personally have no interest in surface level responses where people want to be a comic.. or claim one liner as some wit marker, I discuss subject matter, if people don't like it, then put a block on the post.

It's a melodrama of many syncopation, with flows that merge and some spike and some sink and flow with the under-current, Its an adventure, but a journey of a million destinations, converging like a intricate highway system in the midst of a city, layer over layer, and going in many directions with offshoots to points where the hidden resides, awaiting its moment to flash and shine.

The ripple rhythms, with the stead drive, falling into spiraling crescendo's blending into a flow unlike anything, but with party of many things styles, falling into the cadence of passions.

Toni Riss had a credit card with a 79.9% interest rate.

The 58-year-old woman from Texas thought she struck gold when she found the First Premier card, which is aimed specifically at consumers with poor credit.

"I had an accident on a motorcycle, went through bankruptcy to pay for medical expenses and my credit went to hell in a hand basket, so I was looking for credit cards for people with bad credit" Riss said.

They granted her a card with a $300 limit -- typical for new customers -- and a starting rate of 29.9%, which Riss said she considered decent given her credit score.

But about six months after opening the card -- at the end of 2009 -- she received an unwelcome surprise in the mail.

"I about had a heart attack when I got a disclosure notice saying that my starting rate of 29.9% was going up to 79.9%," said Riss. "It was ludicrous. Talk about a highway robbery."

At that same time, First Premier Bank launched a new credit card with the sky-high 79.9% rate.

The card proved popular with consumers, said First Premier Bankcard CEO Miles Beacom, but the performance was bad: "A lot of the people ran up the card, defaulted and went directly to charge off."

As a result, they dropped the rate to 59.9%. "We also tested it at 23%, 33%, 45%, but 59.9% is the one that shows the best performance and where the organization can market the product," he said.

Since then, nearly 700,000 people have signed up for the card -- and more than half of them carry a monthly balance.

And yes, that rate is completely legal. The Card Act, which was passed in late 2009 to protect consumers from predatory lenders, only prevents issuers from raising rates retroactively. Credit card issuers are free to charge whatever rate they want at the front end.

Beacom, however, denied that Riss would have had her rate jacked up. He said they only issued new cards at that APR.

Still, Riss insisted that she was offered the 79.9% rate, and that when she tried to cancel the card, it took nearly six months. And, she said, First Premier charged fees the entire time and then put her in collections when she didn't pay.

Beacom, didn't deny that First Premier has high fees. In fact, he said that before the Card Act capped the charges at 25% of the credit line, First Premier relied on them to offset the risk of its customers.

"Before the new regulations we had the ability to hold specific individuals accountable for their own actions by charging these fees," he said. "Now we must spread this risk out among all our customers through higher APRs."

First Premier charges a total of $135 per year in fees. It starts with a $45 processing fee to open the account. Then there's an annual fee of $30 for the first year -- $45 for every subsequent year. Plus, there's a monthly servicing fee of $6.25 (or $75 a year).

Cash advances will cost you $5 or 3%, whichever is greater; late payments ring up at $35. The bank will also charge you $35 if a payment on your account is returned due to insufficient funds or any other reason.

But Beacom, said the bank used to charge $175 for just the processing fee and annual fee alone.

And yet the customers keep coming. The company said it serves nearly 3 million customers nationwide and receives anywhere from 200,000 to 300,000 applications a month.

There is a huge -- and growing -- need for cards serving customers with "less than perfect credit," Beacom, said. However, he added, the company is now more cautious due to the Card Act, so it is only opening about 50,000 accounts a month.

The company said this has forced it to cut its workforce by more than 20% last year, and it will reduce its headcount by another 400 to 500 people this year.

In an attempt to find a new product that will bring in fees and customers without being as risky, First Premier plans to start testing a card with a $700 limit and a 25% interest rate.

"The approach is much like high-risk auto insurance," Beacom, said. "If you have a bad driving record, you have to pay more and once your driving record has improved, your premiums will come down When the cardholder's credit score improves, they may start to qualify for more traditional types of credit card offers with better rates and less fees."

That's what Riss has done, but no thanks to First Premier. She said she has slowly built up her credit since ditching the card and eventually qualified for a card with a much lower interest rate and fewer fees.

"I eventually picked myself up and re-established myself, but I want to be a warning to people who would ever think this is a good deal," said Riss.

This is the world we get when we educate people in the institution who teach them how to rob people by skimming in right under the law, and they are taught about the gullibility of people, and how to enrich themselves by the use and abuse of peoples want to believe. Education has sank to an all time low in what it produces today in the financial sector and the legal sector who write policy. It may be a good thing, to run when you see a person claim they are an MBA or ( most basic asshole)... and certainly run fast if they say they are a PhD - (Preaching High Deception), and we may one day learn, there is not such thing as a Master of anything, because if they could be a Master they'd first Master Sickness and Death.. and that they cannot do.

some become wise in how to learn, that they may bring good to the world, but unfortunately, many pursue a degree for the sake of money by any ruse, status and egotist claims of selfish granduer, these are the types who are groomed to design despair and destruction of even the most basic of things.

One may come to realize that when man first took the fruit from the tree of knowledge, the first act conducted was 'deceptions", when the serpent deceived Eve to bite and she in turn deceived Adam to do likewise, from there, trust and fair play, found the means to use knowledge for the many sorted things which cause much havoc in many arenas. Deception rules the roost. which is about like claiming a Degree, for every reason other than the use of knowledge for the improvement of mankind as a whole - maybe it may be a degree of deceptiveness.

We may be thankful for the few, who use knowledge to improve life for many, but there are 1000:1 who use it for every other vice to pursue money, and other things which is immeasurable in the damage to others it cause.

If one first does not have a good heart, and a true concern and vested devotion to humanity; no amount of education will produce anything beyond a criminal who will develop and promote devise. Unfortunately today, only now are we seeing more an more articles and studies, which denote some obsession with college may well be far less than beneficial, we see degrees issued simply because one can pay and show up. We've seen the result of what this has produced, in the middle of the information age, we wittnessed the worst collapse of the world economy- as these degree claimers seek greed above good, they see self elation above humanity concerns, and they claim status for the devise in their ruse, to gather money. They can't seem to make relationships work, nor does any amount of material holding provide any satisfactions - they become like the abysmal ignorance, which is bottom less in what it will conjure and cajole for the sake of more, and they have lost the ability to appreciate and respect even the simple things of life.

people sell tainted food, push fault merchandise, we see pill commercials, that tell you, they will cause more problems than the claim of cure for the single issue one may have initially had, by the time they finish the addictive prescriptive term, they result needed more pills to fix what the first pill caused, only for this or these pills to bring on more symptomatic problems requiring even more pills.

Our food is filled with growth hormone, in a week a chicken becomes the size of being full grown which may normally take many months, Cows grown as if they are connected to an IV tube injected with what ever makes the meat swell and appear to be heavier than it would naturally be. Vegetables injected with substances, where taste is gone and nutrients is only a memory, based on what someone may have discovered years ago, but is no long a part of what looks like a vegetable today.

We lost respect for the farmer, or the rancher, and turned this over to factory industry run by college degree number crunchers, who never sat foot on a farm, but repeat the spill of professors who want to make themselves more important than the information they claim to espouse.

Never abandon the grace of common sense, and you may find yourself becoming wise unto much, and aware of even more...
common sense is not taught in the institution of corporate university, it is taught in the homes, who believe in the grace of God, and the principles of Gods graceful understanding, in the simplicity of what is truths. He who puts his faith in man and the teaching of man, may find himself misled by the lures of greed. gather information, but be weary of whom you engage as your teacher- especially, if they follow not the golden rule and care not for the premise to know there is a power higher than man.

If you build, build for peace and harmony and well being of self and others, if you manage, manage with care and considerations, and insure you understand what is compassion. if you create, do so as if you are the non creator and must utilized what is created for the health, safety and care of living a well and good life. by all means learn, but learn what is common sense, and what is in honor of Gods grace of being compassionate in how you ingest what you pursue to learn. if you teach, do so with common sense as the foundation and care and consideration for humanity as the theme, and be of great care to make money less important than honoring the truths of Gods principles.

You may not become wealthy, but you will find riches in peace of mind, to aim to do no harm. if by chance wealth becomes yours, let it be gained by providing something of quality and character of good and for good, from what you give, do and contribute into and unto society.

The world of Make-up, or should it some times be called 'the world of Re-make ?

Left: A bare-faced Sofia on her way to get her hair and make-up done. Right: Sofia emerges looking polished and glam on the set of "New Year's Eve." [Pacific Coast News]

Behold the power of make-up! We spotted Sofia, a natural blonde (really!), on set in New York filming "New Year's Eve," looking almost unrecognizable. Without her signature voluminous locks, sunkissed skin and vampy make-up, we had to do a triple-take! Her long locks were uncharacteristically dull and flat, and her skin appeared to be WAY fairer than usual. And her on-set look (a cutesy ponytail and flirty make-up) is different for her. The verdict? Miss Vergara's beauty knows no boundaries. (end news)

just watched a show about a mock death ceremony in South Korea... a guy who tried to commit suicide two time, created the program, to help people learn to appreciate their lives.

statistic show that 31 people each day commit suicide in South Korean, many became of shame of some sort or because they failed at something they attempted.

this program tries to show people, that there is more to life and much more to appreciate about their lives, than to throw it away behind some situations which will come to pass.

It's amazing how the metro life of money, status and standards of desire for what some call a good life, makes some people take their own life.
its a program that has been so far according to the documentary, been successful as none of its participants have tried to commit suicide

people learn to appreciate what they have, and realize that even it may not be what they dream, it is far more than they had stopped to appreciate. These people come to a point of new appreciation for what is their life, and realize that being alive is far better than being dead.

Maybe other places may need some program which allows people to look within themselves, and realize the beauty and value of their lives.

Sadly so much of the world measures itself by money and things money can buy, but the real value of life is far less about money and the stuff money can buy. It is the gift to experience living, which is the real beauty, to see and feel the sun, to speak and share voices, and to be in contact with friends and family.
to go out and have experiences of a many varied sorts.

Its sad how so many seem to give up on life, and some let the spirit die, simply sitting in the house brooding about some material thing, or about some person, when the world is full of things and people, and everyone is with something unique and different in the ongoing engagements of living.

Unfortunately we let so many things get in our way, from anguish about money, denial of self and others behind skin tones, hair and anything silly thing which people measure other people about.

the simple way of living, is to simply share, and be open for your life to be shared. death will come in its own way in its own time, why cloud life with a list of biases about so many things until one can't even enjoy the things within their life.

No one is more special than the other when people realize we each are human being with the gift of life.
money won't save anyone when death knocks, nor will things, make one continue to live when death comes to its time.

We can learn to appreciate living, and we might find living is far more than we know it to be, the less we put restrictions on ourselves, about who we can and cannot relate with, who we can and cannot love and who we can and cannot share experiences with.

as men and women, the worst thing we can do, is try to deny the natural inclination for each other. We cloud our ability to appreciate each other with things that can't be taken any place.

the best one may do is hope their life and their living can bring smiles in the hearts of others as well as themselves, by simply sharing ... the experiences within living.

It was extremely ""Cold"" last night, it took a few minutes for the house to warm after work, the dogs ran out, but they ran right back in when the cold hit them ... so, they sat around eating on their chew bones, so I decided I'd watch a movie.

I watched the movie "Ray", (again), What a Great Movie !!, I like how his wife managed herself in the relationships. She did not try to leave, she knew everything he was doing, but she knew beyond it all that he would always come home to her.

Ahmet Ertegun, of Atlantic Records also had a wife who did not trip about where he would go or what he would do, Mr. Ertegun and Ioana Maria Banu were married on April 6, 1961. Known as Mica, she became a prominent interior designer.

These men were fortunate to have women who had the understanding to stick with it. I think that is very good, especially how they portrayed Ray's wife, Della, in the movie. It was not emphasised as a main theme of the movie, but it was captioned very well, to show her as a woman who was stable enough to know, beyond all other things, they were together..

Unfortunately they did not show any of the elements of Ahmet Ertegun and his wife, but I did see a documentary on him and his wife, and it was excellent. she did not trip about where he'd go, or tripping about what he was doing, because she knew he was always coming home and he was not going to forget where home is, no matter what and where his work would take him.

the key to 3D, would be to build it from the inside of the units. next the Television will come with 3d without glasses, because it's all about building it inside the unit.. does anyone remember the small "Christian Cross" with the little glass you look in and see "the prayer"; it looked like it was suspended. or the little toys that use to have two or more pictures, when you hold it at different angles. that same principle can make 3D minus the glasses a reality in televisions.

Handheld devices with small, glasses-free 3D displays will be getting a major test with the arrival of the Nintendo 3DS later this month in Japan, with a worldwide release to follow in March. During my brief hands-on with the 3DS, I called its 3D screen "far better than I was expecting" with "a real sense of depth to the image," although I could "feel the eye strain creeping in" when the 3D effect was pushed too far.
