It must be my imagination... about two weeks ago, member profile photos were replaced with pink silhouettes with a question mark. You had to buy a gold or silver membership to see the photo. We standard members were blocked to read messages too.
I guess it had such an enormous negative impact on the website that the original format had returned.
Tonight, when I logged on, I checked to see who was looking at my profile only to find... the member names are missing!!
I checked it twice and pinched my arm just to see if I was dreaming.

I LOVE this place... new surprises weekly.

Let's see how this one plays out!

Please be informed that typing in all caps is the equivalent to shouting.
It's great to use capital letters to STRESS A POINT.
After that, YOU CANNOT EMPHASIZE SOMETHING IF YOU ARE ALREADY SHOUTING...
SO WHAT'S NEXT?

SHOUTING IN BOLD LETTERS ?

Some people need to exercise better internet etiquette...

Late night at the office again. I finished drawings for my kitchen installers as planned. Last minute as they say. They need this for the morning.

Looking at the calendar I realized it's 10-11-12 and we won't see this date again.

It will be midnight when I get home. 1am when I get to bed and 6am when I get up Friday... 5 hours sleep you say?
Yes, it was 3 hours sleep last night.

Weekend work planned... not much choice.

A man comes home and tells his girlfriend that he just won the lottery.
She starts jumping up and down with excitement and soon the two of them are jumping up and down shouting "lottery, lottery, lottery, lottery...!"

He tells her "hurry up honey, pack your bags, you're goin' on a trip..."
Still chanting lottery, lottery, lottery, she runs into the bedroom, opens the closet door and starts throwing clothes on the bed. Suddenly she stops, runs back to the living room where her boyfriend has just opened a beer.. and she says "Do I pack for Winter or Summer?"

Without the slightest bit of hesitation he replies "What do I care? Just as long as you and your belongings are gone before nightfall"

(yes, this is a joke)

Blocking my BETAs...

High blood pressure (hypertension) is a silent killer... so they say. Sometimes, it's symptoms are undetected. You could feel great and have hypertension. I know. Some days my pressure is very high and I have no idea until I check it.

BETA blockers are a type of hypertension medicine. Oh... you have hypertension? There are many factors that can cause high blood pressure. Heredity, lifestyle, diet, exercise, weight all have an effect on a persons blood pressure.

From experience, doctors will tell you the contributing factors, then prescribe medicine to lower blood pressure. Sometimes... more than one medicine is required.

There are a whole range of hypertension medicines available and... they don't all work the same. I know of 2 different families of hypertension medicines. BETA blockers and Calcium Channel Blockers. Sometimes lower doses of two different families is better than a large dose of one.

Supplemental medicines are often required to help with hypertension medicines. For example, some can regulate heart rate allowing the heart to slow down, some increase urination and that helps rid the body of sodium... Water retainage is also a factor in blood pressure.

On the weekends, especially If I'm working in the yard, I'll cut back on blood pressure medicine as the exercise and reduced stress lowers my pressure without medicine. That said... if I were a fitness instructor, I'd probably do away with hypertension medicine entirely.

Something to consider.

Thanks for reading my blog.

Gimmicks: turning normal product into bigger profit...

Palmolive concentrated dish washing liquid (soap) has been on the market since I was a . Maybe you remember Madge, the manicurist who offered advice to her customers to soften their hands from roughness doing dishes.

"Mild? you're soaking in it" and the customer would (fearfully) pull her hand from the soaking dish while Madge tapped their hand offering assurance the product was good. What a marketing psychology!

Oh... the millions of women who fell for that tactic.

OK, a bottle of Palmolive is around $3 - $4 nowadays depending on the size, store or promotion going on because some offer 25% more product free. That's what it cost, that's what it sells for. You make lots of product, sell it for a price and the story ends.

Dial soap has a product with a foaming pump dispenser 7.5 ounce bottle for about the same price as a big bottle of Palmolive. A friend of mine tried it. When the Dial soap ran out, I filled it with Palmolive. But... it didn't work at first. Palmolive is concentrated. Dial foaming soap isn't. Ohhh.... this is not new to me. The kitchen soap pumps cannot work with concentrated liquid soap. You have to dilute the soap for them to work properly.

I've got this worked down to a science now... You only need 1 ounce of Palmolive soap and 6.5 ounces of tap water to fill the dial pump bottle and achieve the same kind of foaming soap. That's costing me roughly 20 cents per refill and 2 minutes of my time. I've got plenty of pump bottles now as my friend doesn't want to be bothered refilling pump bottles of soap. I have one in the lavatory and one in each vanity at work. The company I'm working for bought concentrated antibacterial hand soap that has a strong chemical scent. I dislike it and supply my own. My coworkers seem to like my soap more than what's supplied by management.

I've been doing this for 2 or 3 years now... is it worth it? Of course it is.

The thought goes through my head that Dial has a really good money making gimmick. I'm sure you have to factor in the cost of the pump bottle. Home Depot sells 20 ounce spray bottles for $1 so the cost cannot be so great that it's not money making.

I feel so guilty for exposing this scheme...

A few weeks ago, Yahoo did a link to the website of Ellen Degeneres. She had a story on people who went away (probably for the Labor Day weekend) only to find the family pet(s) tore up the house!

Funny, yet sad that your most trusted pet (I say that loosely) decides to throw a fit because you were gone.

你去一次旅行。 你的宠物在家。 单独。 宠物(通常是一条狗) 忿怒并且嚼皮家俱。

This happened to me in the 80's when my wife & I had gone out to a party after work. When we returned home (a few hours later), our two young dogs had dragged all the leather shoes into the middle of the living room floor and were in the processing of chewing them to bits. They knew they did wrong because of the 'leopard crawl' when I called their names. You little bastard also came out of my mouth... how appropriate.

Dogs are like that!

I did a home office for a customer who owned a Standard Poodle. For some unknown reason, there were marks in the countertop that the customer claimed were defects in the workmanship. They refused to pay the final bill and we involved getting the contractor to negotiate for us. As the story goes, all the furniture was built-in and not practical to remove to repaint the top. So, we opted to paint (clear topcoat) with all the furniture in-place. We were putting up plastic and tape getting ready to do the work and someone let the poodle out from the back bedroom. The ran into the home office and was jumping from counter to counter looking out the windows to see if their owner was coming home.
We convinced the owner it was caused by their and not us. The contractor suggested they put a glass top on the countertop to protect it. They did and that was the end of that episode.

I try not to use that phrase. Why?
It's an excuse to insult someone... a one second warning you're going to drop a bomb on them.

"No offense Bob, but your unstable personality guarantees all your relationships to be short lived."

There are other ways to get your point across without being degrading, obnoxious or offensive and 'protect' yourself by saying "No Offense"

It appears the future of Chinese FriendFinder is pending. With recent changes, one must pay to read messages, both old and sent. This (in my opinion) is a knife in the back to this website and will negatively affect membership. Hopefully, the management of Chinese FriendFinder will reconsider and change back to the way it was.

I don't want to debate the debate. This is not the time or the place for that.
