Virus hotspots in the State of Florida.
I've been watching the numbers grow for Florida.
Mostly the for Dade and Broward Counties.
If you are not familiar, Miami is in the middle of Dade county and Fort Lauderdale is in the middle of Broward county.
Highly populated, both cities are famous for tourism and have international airports, seaports for cargo and cruise ships.

Since I own a home in Miami, it's a concern to avoid these areas as I'm now living in Palm Beach county about 50 miles to the north.

I read the numbers for Dade dropped yesterday.
Not sure if it's a false reading,
We are under a mandatory stay home order.
If this effect is working, then we could expect the projected curve to flatten sooner.

More than 3 weeks later, there are no paper products on the shelves at Walmart.

The 24 hour Walmart has restricted hours now. 7am 8pm. I got there at 7:am and they had corded off the entrance with markings every 6 feet. Maybe 50 people inside. Half of the shoppers were wearing masks, including some with handkerchiefs and one guy with a bathroom towel wrapped around his face (he probably had the best protection) and this time there were a limited selection of meats.

Displays of fruits, vegetables, milk, eggs all looked like normal. It was the paper products aisle that was empty.

This week I'm going through files and found hundreds of job photos. This was a hard drive I use for archive.

I see a few weeks of panic buying hasn't subsided.
Sunday at 7am I was at Walmart expecting do my weekly shopping before the crowds.

No empty bins the breads, cookies and groceries.
Knowing what happened previous visits, I headed straight for the paper goods for paper plates and tissues.

the way, I glanced over the wall where the meats are... sorry, where the meats were. It looked like they did when the last hurricane came through. Empty.

Workers were opening boxes of frozen fish and filling island refrigeration units.

I've been busy the last few weeks with projects and Sunday was my first attempt at weekly shopping.

I veered over the meats and the only thing there was lean ground chicken that I routinely buy weekly. Lucky for me and it became a priority as people were picking so fast, If I waited more than a minute, would be gone.

Back toward the paper products I could hear a fight had broken out.
Confrontation in aisle ... Two women were hoarding as they collectively had more than 9 twelve-packs of toilet tissue in their carts and it was causing trouble. Another woman said "Lady, how could you possibly need 60 rolls of toilet paper. Leave some for the others!"

I'm faulting the store this for not putting signs limiting purchases of 2 packs.

I got paper plates, bowls and tissues without having fight for it.

While I did read about shortages of eggs and milk, it wasn't an issue at that store.

There is a word that describes people who hoard dozens of rolls of toilet tissue.
The same word describes people who go against public health advice and ignore coronavirus warnings.
What are they called?

Covidiots. Yes, that's the newly coined word in the Urban Dictionary.
