The other morning, on the way to work, I tried to get through an intersection but it appeared there was an accident under the light and at least 10 cars couldn't get through. To avoid it, I made a right turn into the parking of a drug store that went out of business nearly 3 years ago.
There was usually trash and overgrowth of shrubs in this place and more often than not, some homeless people had taken residence in the store front covering. I noticed there were 2 police cars side-by-side and they were talking. Having seen this hundreds of times, I didn't pay any attention to them.
Before I could exit the parking lot, I heard a siren an saw red and blue lights flashing in my rear mirror. I stopped. Rolling down my window a cop came up to my car asking if I knew why I was pulled over. My response was "I have no idea." He explained I was cutting through a parking lot but my reply explained about the blocked intersection and... the drug store was not in business anymore.
While he was checking my identification, the 2nd police car pulled alongside me and a woman officer got out. She mentioned it was 'private property' and I was trespassing. I said, there were no signs stating this and she pointed to a (really small) sign pasted on the side of the building column that read: Private Property - Keep Out.
I chuckled and said maybe they should have chained the entrance with the sign or posted it in a place where the warning was visible from the street and not AFTER someone enters the property. She nodded and somewhat agreed but said they were only giving me a warning and I shouldn't cut through the lot anymore.
The other officer came back with my ID and repeated it was only a warning. They had trouble with homeless people camping out in the lot leaving garbage and the landlord called on the help of the police to get them out.

Lately, my free time has been spent on a condo renovation. But I must say I joined another dating site 7 months ago that has a blog section that's super active.
I tried to get members to be more active here, but it doesn't appear my actions have worked.

Something is burning...

It's been a mixed bag of weather these past few weeks. Lows in the 40's (Fahrenheit) highs in the 70's and Thursday kicked up winds of 25mph gusting to 40 at times.
I have a fan in the window of my home office that's 20 years old and sometimes It squeaks because the bearing/bushing in the motor is worn. I haven't bothered to open the cover to oil the bushing.
A few times it's stopped because the bushing/bearing is worn.

Friday morning, I opened the bedroom door to a heavy burning electrical smell throughout the house. Although it's a strong smell, it didn't set off the 3 smoke detectors in the house!

I took the fan from the window and moved it outside on the patio, opened all the doors and windows. Strong winds are helping remove the smell from inside.

DRONE on...

Someone told me there are few model aircraft flying sites provided by Palm Beach County - Parks & Recreation, where people go to visit and fly airplanes, helicopters and drones.

One problem is many are within 50 miles of Trumps Mar-a-Lago retreat and the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) has banned all model aircraft on days when he's in town.

I believe the normal restrictions are 400 feet maximum altitude and no flying within 5 miles of an airport.

So any Palm Beach modellers who only fly weekends and holidays get shut down when the president is at Mar-a-Lago on those days.

OIL...

I take issue with oil.
Not petroleum based oil or oil/fat derived from animals.
My issue is with plant or 'vegetable oil' and that includes nut oils used on foods for eating (or cooking) and not oils used in cosmetics or paint products.
There are lots of oils in the marketplace.
If I want olive oil, it states it on the label 'Olive Oil' and some come from virgins.
Some olive oil is blended with other (read: cheaper) oils to get olive flavor at less expense.
Peanut oil is a favorite for some who cook in a skillet or wok as it has a higher smoke point and can be used successfully for frying.
Corn oil, nice color and sweet taste.
Sesame oil is used in many Oriental dishes and has a distinct flavor.
Sunflower oil for cooking
Safflower oil is often used for roasted nuts.
Coconut oil from coconuts
Cottonseed, Rageseed and Canola for cooking.
There are bunches of more exotic oils too numerous to mention.

So the issue? Vegetable Oil... WTF is in vegetable oil?

Every brand and every bottle I checked was... 100% Soybean Oil.
That's right. I found you cannot buy bottles of soybean oil because all the soybean oil is marked vegetable oil.

How deceitful is that? Why can't they sell soybean oil for what it is... soybean oil.

Two daughters of (the late) Doctor Larry Braunstein came forward to say the podiatrist diagnosed (the young) Donald Trump with bone spurs in 1968. That diagnosis was enough to get Trump a medical exemption for the Vietnam War draft.
According to one story, Braunstein did it as a favor to Trump's father, Fred who was his landlord at the time.

Christmas Day and nearly all grocery stores and restaurants were closed. One exception was the Asian Market. We were able to buy fresh vegetables and as a special treat Peking Duck.
I also got a cut of the smoked pork.

Song Remakes...

I listen to a local classic rock music radio station that has a few hours of talk show in the morning and music at 10am. One day, they talked about little known groups who re-record famous songs that help start their career. They stated, the for this is 50% of the total royalties.

is my favorite source for music and I often follow song remakes.
For this blog, I picked "You keep Me Hangin On" in 1966 by The Supremes, remade (as a psychedelic rock song) by Vanilla Fudge in 1967, and again remade in 1986 with a disco beat by Kim Wilde.

You've got yours and I've got mine. Here's a short list:

All righty now.
That's your answer... cut & dry.
Everything happens for a reason...
Just sayin'
I've got your back!
When you get the answer... reach out to me.
I need that... A-sap!
Trust me on this...
Who died and left you in charge?
Been there, done that.
That's the way I roll...
