Excessive blog views...

I usually log in 3 or 4 times a day checking for new scammer photos, blog comments and messages... usually in that order. What I have noticed on the main blog page are high numbers of views to the members who blog here. This is a complete opposite to the amount of comments made to these blogs. From experience (on another bog site) there are usually 10 comments for every 100 views. What we have here are two or three hundred views and only a few comments. People viewing blogs repeatedly and not making comments. The only time I recall (on the other site) was a person who was intentionally annoying the other members and would rack-up 3000 views in 1 or 2 hours. Since it's an observation and not a complaint, I'm curious if others monitor the views to their blogs.

A generation ago I played music for a living. I bought and sold some guitars over the years and recently had the desire to play again, but only play for fun... however, the time I have at the end of a busy day is limited. So, I often practice in studio B where the acoustics are much better!

If... I found a cure for CANCER

Think of this concept: Millions of people could be out of work. As much as we are all saddened by someone who has, had or died from cancer, a whole industry makes their livelihood around it.
What is the reality here? Without sick people, they wouldn't have jobs. The medical field thrives on people afflicted with cancer. As long as I can remember, we always seem to 'be on the verge of a breakthrough' but If suddenly a cure were truly found, they would have no need for cancer programs at Universities. Professors wouldn't be needed. Less doctors would be needed. Less laboratory studies needed. No more money pouring into medical research. No need for radiation or chemotherapy. Medical staff would be cut down sharply. Fewer hospital stays... lower costs to the insurance companies.
The way I see it, a cure for cancer would mean people wouldn't have to deplete their entire life savings seeking medical treatment, often with less than positive results. Less pain and suffering.
On the other side of the issue, hundreds of thousands of people would be looking for work in other medical related fields. Literally, millions of people would be adversely affected by a cure for cancer.

I'm thinking she was a shoemaker I suppose if she were from Korea she could be looking for a seoulmate.
Seriously, I read a profile the other day (hint: from a scammer) looking for a solemate. Obviously, they weren't too good with English.

Tainted popular photo comments...

On the front page are 12 photos of members listed as Popular photos. Below each photo are two icons. One is a thumbs up vote and the other is a caption where members are allowed to make comments. There is a counter keeping a tally for every photo vote & comment.
It's easy to see which members are favorites here and sometimes I click the caption icon to actually read the comments. Typical of dating sites there is an abundance of testosterone for men making comments to photos of women.
Note, my settings only allow me to view profiles of women, so I have no idea how the women vote/comment on photos of men.
It only took a few views to see one guy make exactly the same comment on every photo listed. The comment is "i sure wouldn't mind kissing you between the cheeks."
Ask any rocket scientist and he will tell you the cheeks in reference are not located on her face. English is a forgiving language with lots of slang to say things that sound cool that are really impolite.
It reminds me of a running loose. Have you seen this? They go from tree to tree, fence post to fence post, street lamp to street lamp marking their spot so every other knows that Fido has been there. .

Tofu on the menu tonight...

We bought some tofu last week and my wife prepared it with beef and Italian spaghetti sauce. It was really good. Tonight was a different recipe prepared with small ground turkey meatballs and zucchini. I like the other style a little better because of the stronger sauce flavor, but this was much better than I remember tofu from a few years ago. If I recall, tofu back then had a taste like white chalk they use in the classroom. no kidding... it was similar to Plaster-of-Paris. I think now, having tried something different, I like it enough to try again.
Long live tofu!

I rarely buy software as there are so many offerings of free products, but I'm reluctant to try something without reading the user reviews first.
Firewalls, virus and spyware protection, utility and paint programs. Lots of good ones. I didn't get into CD and DVD ripping but that area of free programs is over saturated. There are the usual places to download free or free to try stuff including the one in the blog title. I go there daily just to see what the offerings are and the few I have actually downloaded are pretty good.
The most bothersome part of installing free software are the self installing offers that come with the installation of (what appears to be) harmless free programs.
My wife has her own computer that is setup in Chinese. It's not 100% but most of the functions she uses are in Chinese. Last week, she needed help as a free online translator she installed was self installing other popup windows and turning her computer into a full-time advertising board.
I quickly installed malware-bytes then disconnected the computer from the network. Running a scan found 328 traces of malware. Nothing really serious, they were medium level threats. After, I started uninstalling anything that was installed on her computer this year. Typical to some... they want to go to the internet to have you fill-out questionnaires and other special offers. That's my reason for pulling the network cable, I've see lots of programs that install 2 while you are uninstalling 1.
Similar to apps for cellphones, usually the free stuff comes with strings attached. Like nag screens requesting you to by the paid version so you won't have to see the advertisements every time you use the app.

Bobbi Kristina Brown: Like Mother Like ...?

I see in the news, Bobbi Kristina Brown, of the late Whitney Houston was found face down in her bathtub. Taken to the hospital and on a ventilator (according to a news story) and placed in a medically-induced coma as her brain function is significantly diminished.
This doesn't look good and that's what doctors have told her family. They prepare for the worst.
If I recall, Joan Rivers was also placed in a medically induced coma to reduce brain swelling. I predicted the outcome of that as I heard the news.
Until today, I didn't know anything about Bobbi Kristina Brown and it's sad to hear what has happened. I'm waiting to hear the speculations.

There are a handful of us who report scam artist profiles here. Their purpose is to make someone believe they are someone else.
Simple. Fraud... it's their job. Usually it's to scam them for money. In some cases it's matchmakers promoting Russian Brides. Either way, it's wrong (and against policy) to use this website for profit.
I've had pretty good success having these profiles removed. My track record is not 100%. Because of this, I work harder sniffing out those that would do bad things to the unsuspecting members here.
A while back I found one profile with the photo of Yaris Sanchez. Research shows she is a stripper/dancer/hip-hop celebrity. I reported the profile and the photo changed, but the profile remained active. Hmmm.... To this day, it's active.
This week, I found a new profile using a photo of Yaris and I quickly reported it. Checking back, I found the photo changed and the profile is active. Hmmm..... I said.
Actually I said something different because the photo is the same photo that appears on the other profile I reported!
So now we have 2 identical profiles of 27 year old women coming from different countries, to which I can get neither one ejected.
Judge for yourself, but I have submitted ample proof that something is not right here. . .

Coolie Hat...
|
Posted:Jan 31, 2015 3:20 am

Depending on the dictionary and research, the word coolie has different meanings. I first heard it as a derogatory name for an Asian person who came to America to work on the railroad many generations ago as unskilled labor. Wiki describes it as an unskilled laborer mainly from the Indian subcontinent.
The urban dictionary says coolie originated from the Hindi word baggage carrier and was only associated with full blooded indentured servants of Indian descent who went to Guyana, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago.
I was researching some photos and came upon workers in the rice fields wearing pointed top woven bamboo hats that protected them from the burning heat of the sun.
Photo searching some of these hats brought me to a website that described them as a traditional hat worn by Asian farm workers. That sounded accurate and I saved the photo to my computer. The unpleasant part was the online vendor named the file - deluxe coolie hat.
It was questionable in my mind if the name of the product came from management or if was it the work of the website designer. Probably someone (older) in management as I envision the website designer as a younger person who wouldn't know that term. . .
