Dont u think so? when all shadows are in pair, you can enjoy a V night like this:

1)5pm, a message n a rose fm faraway Africa, "Happy V, thank u fr being w/me n sharing of love". Touching.

2) 7-8pm, had a swimming and felt as free as a fish.

3) 8:30pm rushed to an mixed-bill opera concert dedicated to Valentines, received a rose at the entrance. And remembered the lyrics by Carmen, "if you dont love me, I love you; if I love you, pls be in guard." Fabulous.

4) 10:30 pm, Walked in street, seeing many teens couple holding roses n V gift boxes w/ big smile. Then a nice snack.

5) 11:30pm, a suddent hearing of lovely music at the all-time quiet city square.

6) 12:00pm, arrived home and saw box of Strawberry Yoghurt Topps waiting there, bearing Happy Valentine!

7) 12;30pm, logged on Skype n chatted by typing 30 mins abt V day, abt memory of love n sex w/some close net friend.

Singles, sort it out yrself! No partner or tired of yr partner, make it yrself.

For long I havent seen one who can sharpen my eyes.

In reality or fm medium.

Why? Modernism make ppl less charming, stylish, and sexy?

Before we here enjoyed going out at night, for a drink and dance, watching the interactions among ppl, especially the eye-catching guys n gals (For sure, sometimes v interacted a bit).

Frankly, as a female, I do enjoy seeing attractive both guys and gals. Not a crime to appreciate beauty.

Now we seldom go out, nights here as dull as the polluted sky - though Macau is moving towards the so-called oriental Las Vegas and a lot American giant casinos and hotels springing up - no cool persons, no good music and performances, no excited venues that can make u shake a little bit.

Our eyes feel a bit bored. Yet a friend questioned me, where is the once glittering Swallow?

Yeah, where? I may consider to relocate to energize up myself.

How if all the world the same?

Who Bites my Grass

Strange!

I arrived bk office n found my luxuriant grass, a kind of green water plant kept in a glasss bottle, was only left w/ one stem n leave.

Lying on desk, along side the glass, were the scattered stems and leaves.

Boo! an enemy tortured my plant to destroy my feng shui? or the cleaning lady was not careful enough? but cleaning lady is kind-hearted n responsible, if this occured, she would have told me.

30 minutes later, a news spread fm our another floor, guys caught a king-mouse alive. They put it inside a plastic bag for display n scare girls.

But I dont want to go see it.

Whoever bites my grass, seeing my devastated plant, my feeling is hurt already.

Who had the drive to eat more green?

My heart sinks down when i catch this World Press Photo of the Year - a 's hand pressed against his mother's at an emergency feeding centre in Niger - was described as having "beauty, horror and despair".

Can u see the details of the 's hand?

Why this land is still doomed to suffering. Africa, Africa.

Some people critize China for not being democratic. I say Chinese has the basic right of living, eating, etc. Democracy is quite an empty word if you dont enjoy even these basic rights. How abt Africans and those suffering ppl of the unstable, war-tortured, famine beaten countries. They say it is their fate, not related to democracy. Really?

I know a friend working in humantarian field in Africa. Very frustrated the situation there really.

To you my friend for a glimpse.

How do you feel?

Taking Train in China 1 - when Train has not come

This's an old train station in Zhaoqing, a city 1hr fm Guangzhou (Caton). Seems like one from 1980s Chinese movies.

Very quiet, sunshine lights up the waiting room through an open roof. Only two lines of wooden bench sit ten sth passengers waiting for trip to Guizhou and Guangxi. They are mostly migrant workers heading home after CNY, each carrying big packages but chatting happily for the joy of going home. i like this station, feel of ancient, 1000 times cozier, than the noisy, pulluted Guangzhou station. Each time i travel by train i just come here.

We see an ad. board w/indication of a VIP teahouse (says: w/fine music and tea) at the side door of the waiting room. We cross a tree yard and find it. Huh, just an empty arm-chair room w/ air con and two buzzing TV. I ask the wait lady if they provide tea. Nope, she replies, 5 yuan (RMB5) only we'll give u a bottle of mineral water. Where's fine music? No music, look, the excited beauty contest is going on TV, come and enjoy. She points to the hanging TV. A board here also tells us this teahouse is a legal operation for creating extra income to station workers. If you pay and stay here, you can board on train fm here. If it is quiet i wont mind sitting here.

We retreat. The speaker broadcasts the arrival of our train. Led by a railway staff, a lady w/ seriuos face in uniform, passengers move out station one by one in a line. When approaching the yellow line, staff, separately standing in different positions, all w/ a speaker, will caution passengers of keeping away fm safety line and instruct passengers to gather in group for boarding based on their tickets' carriage no..

Well, a giant train, a long tailed powerful animal is going to arrive!

Whistle, smoke, air flow, sound. It comes. I stand there embracing it. I even take a pic w/ it, showing myself as a true backpacker - orange jacket, jeans, scarf, most of all, a puffy nissan backpack.

How did I spend my CNY?

Hey...Gong Hei Fat Choi-oi......

I come back Macau and check Chinese FriendFinder now. Today is the 11th day of CNY and we are still in CNY mood until the 15th day of Lantern Festival (Yuan Xiao Jie).

I'm happy Toukki is interested in sharing, list below my activities in CNY in China mailand:

1. On NY eve, I went around flower market and chose a big lucky golden tangerine tree, a peach branch (which brings love) and decorated them with Lai Si n flowers. Can show u pic later.

2. On NY day, I went w/ a family group to temple to do some offering and worship, to burn the 1st joss stick. Many monks busying there. We even played shuttlecock to sweat in front of the temple.

3. On Chu San (3rd day of CNY) , we drove to Zhaoqing to climb the famous Dinghu mountain. Because I invited my 80 years old but v healthy grandma, sometimes we took car w/ electrical appearance but actually uses fuel. The spot was full of tourists, maintained well but less charming than 10 years ago. We had a vegetarian lunch in the temple restaurant. Not good, a ripoff. On Chu Si(4th day), we climbed a local hill w/ my 4-yr-old niece Doy. Surprisingly, she headed the line.

4. Apart from these, ma-joh, eating, seeing faces not seen for 1 year, chatting, I dont know ma-joh so only the latter three I could take part in. Oh, still, not shamefully, I received lots of Lai Si, even from those younger but married ones. They always asked, get married soon! I just nodded yes, yes.

5. Yeah I also visited my home village. The green brick and mud brick house is very old (100 years) and vacant. The Swallow's nest is still there on living room's wall. Regretfully, I forgot to burn joss sticks for my ancestors. Forgive me.

6. This year I was so lazy that I did not call any school or university classmates or friends for CNY greetings. Guess greetings can be at anytime?

On Chu Liu (6th day), I went traveling. (Before boarding on bus, lovely Doy appeared surprisingly w/ her mother on a motorcycle and we had a desert at a herbal tea shop). May share w/ you story on the train and on the trip by later posts.

Ok, life is going on, on, on......

Really busy, year-end rush.

Traditions can be reflected from the Shopping of must-have items for a Cantonese family for CNY, incl.:

1. traditional snap food such as seeds, nuts, fried Jiaozi, candies, etc for family gathering and relatives/friends visiting. I remember the joy of making Jaozi then fried them at home as a .

2. dry seafood materials for nice soup, incl. scallop, fish maw, sharp fin. Long-cooked soup is very important for a nice CNY meal.

3. Beautiful clothes for .

4. Lai Si packs(Red Pack lucky money), married ppl will exchange new money notes from bank for Lai Si distribution. Young ppl will also prepare Lai Si for seniors of family.

5. Tangerines and Flowers w/Red packs n red strings attached, Hui Cun scroll( lucky wishes writen in classic calligraphy on red paper),and other ornaments for the house.

6. Things for worship.

So at this time all housewives are busy and are anticipating Lai Si. I did when I was young.

I will have holiday in China from 1/27-2/6. Families, 3 generations, of my grandfather's brother, who resided in Beijing during 1960s, will come to Guangdong for a historical unification this CNY. Big family party then.

Happy CNY. Gong Hei Fatt Choi. SEE you next year

Wooh, sea of flowers, sea of lanterns, sea of people. CNY is coming.

Every shops are jammed w/shoppers, some w/ long queue waiting to pay. Gold shops, jewllery shops, expensive consumer goods shops, the items glittering at shoppers eyes. Local ppl, Chinese mainland high spenders, Hong Kong cross-sea tourist, foreign travellers, all become one sand in the Macau street.

Even the traditional Chinese pastry shops are crowded. Tons of almond baked cookies will be carried out of Macau to China, to Hong Kong. I go to Hotel Lisboa to buy their famous cookies, 3 cans of dif. nuts. Heavy, really heavy but nice food gift. My grandma will like it,baby Doy will too.

I enjoy very much seeing this thick-cloud-like street goers. I like to see ppl healthy, happy. Now I expect to flow inside the flower street in a Chinese city on CNY eve. So beautiful, so colorful.

We are happy here. But we know there are many ppl suffering somewhere in the world...huuuh

Crazy Swallow:
“When my soul cannot find its way out, I go traveling, I go wandering
I want to set myself free, through unlimited self-indulgence
But my heart, once released,
is hard to retrieve
……”

“Out of order, back to order
Into the sheath, out of the sheath
Railed, derailed
I swing between the polarizations
I cant make decision
..."

Choi Lam:
“Firstly you must set yourself free. Go travel absolutely can pamper you. And self-indulgence is a sound solution. The question is whether you can retrieve yourself.” “What power retrieves you after your self-indulgence?” “ It is that you keep twisting and savoring your own reality - Sober up after shirking - You must come back That’s your choice. I think “myself” is my reality, (if) I throw it (this myself), I would become another person, so I will come back.”

So I will come back!

So I will come back!

n.b. Choi Lam is a renowned HK writer, gourmet, and traveler who enjoys writing, traveling, good life, good food and beauties (female). All dining venues and traveling programs are proud to have even a little trail relevant to him.
