According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Florence is less than 3 days away from striking landfall on the East coast of United States. Specifically centered on North Carolina.
Current wind speed is 140mph making it a category 4 storm and of the latest advisory is expected to strike Friday afternoon, possibly sooner. Reports are more than a million residents have been told to evacuate, especially in low lying areas as flooding will occur.

I've posted a link to the NHC storm track that updates a few times a day so if you are interested in following the storm it's good until the winds die down and the storm is no longer.

You have reached the Suicide Hotline... please hold.

I heard on the radio driving home one night, the 10th leading cause of death in America is suicide. So the first thing I did was look for statistics. From 2016 I found a chart that states an American dies by suicide every 12.3 minutes. There were 1.1 MILLION estimated suicide attempts and 43,000 actually died.

4 men per every 1 woman die from suicide but 3 times more women are likely to attempt. A cruel thought would be men are just better at it than women.
I don't mean that as a joke.

So, I'm thinking do people actually have to wait when calling a suicide hotline?
Yes. According to one website it explains that it depends on the hotline you call. Some calls may be routed to a central location. Typically, the caller will hear a message confirming they reached the suicide hotline and get placed on hold (with music) until someone can answer the call.

Calls are usually answered by trained staff with counselors, but not always.
Like anything else, I'm sure weekends or the end of the month are busy periods. Why the end of the month? If you know someone who rents a room and needs to find another place to stay, living on the street until you find another place could be enough to end your life.

1936 - 2018 may he rest in peace...
Some people liked him and some didn't.
It doesn't matter as he's gone now.

Among the news stories this morning, Michael Cohen, former attorney for Donald Trump is seeking your donations to pay for his legal fees. His GoFundMe page has a goal of $500,000 to help pay for he legal defense and has already received $50,000 from an anonymous donor.
It looks like 'the fixer' needs a fix!

The story I read stated "Michael Cohen Truth Fund" had raised more than $145,000 from about 2,600 donations.

News stories are popping up all over regarding Trump's long-time attorney Michael Cohen's plea of guilty yesterday in campaign finance violations and other charges.

I had a chance to listen to Anderson Cooper's CNN show where he interviewed former Federal Prosecutor Jeffrey Toobin who was quoted "This is the first time since Watergate and perhaps even before Watergate that a federal guilty plea has taken place and the guilty person said 'I committed this crime with and for the president of the United States' if this were any other person given the evidence that was presented in court today, it seems to me a virtual certainty that Donald Trump would have been indited and charged too..."

In the news, I see President Trump's former campaign manager Paul Manafort has been found guilty of 8 counts including tax fraud & foreign bank accounts.
There were 18 counts brought against him but for now 10 of those may be ruled a mistrial.

Manafort remains in custody and faces another trial September 17 where he will be tried on charges of money laundering, obstruction of justice and failing to register as a foreign agent.

Garlic Rolls...

I'm sure I wrote a blog about the garlic rolls made by Marcella's Italian restaurant in the 1970's
Her pizza was great but people raved about the garlic rolls.
Some places call them garlic knots because they are strips twisted into the shape as opposed to rolls that are just one lump of dough.
The knot shape allows the spices to get into the roll and not slide off it.

People we don't need to hear/read about on a daily basis...

My search engine is usually Yahoo where I can catch a few news stories.
Sometimes I see stories about the same people over and over and... over.
The thing about internet news is clicking the link tells them someone is interested.
More clicks gets more exposure.
Someone is telling them what's newsworthy by the amount of clicks.

In the top right corner they post a 'Trending Now' of who (or what topics) is/are being searched.

I don't need to hear about...
... anything Kardashian
Meghan Markle
Elon Musk... submarine or no submarine
Jamal or George Clooney
Rudy Giuliani
Papa John

At this moment people are interested in:
1. Danica Patrick
2. Jamie Lee Curtis
3. Emelia Holden
4. Caitlyn Jenner
5. Subaru Forester
6. CD Rates
7. Alexandre Benalla
8. Ariana Grande
9. Larry Fedora
10. Credit Report

On this date in 1969...

On July 20th, 1969 two American Astronauts, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on the Apollo 11 Mission, landed on the moon.

I remember watching TV at the home of Billy and Bobby Robbins (singer and bassist for the rock band Fantasy) while their drummer Greg stated "Wouldn't it be funny is the moon were really made of cheese?" Maybe Greg had been smoking something.

This was a time long before the digital age and much of the equipment used by NASA was analog. I remember someone saying many of the calculations used on this flight were done by slide rulers...

Are you kidding me?

Some say it was a hoax and that America was in a cold war with Russia so the entire mission was staged. Possible?

More than one profile...

From time-to-time, I notice the same member having more than one profile. I know it's banned on other dating sites and possibly the same on Asia Friend Finder or their sister sites.

I can only wonder why the need to do this?

One woman from China has a 2nd profile that shows she is living in the United States. She does it so American guys will notice her. She's willing to deceive them in order to get their attention... and maybe they will overlook her dishonesty and start a relationship.
